My son is joining a fall basball league this year.I have looked into travel ball and other leagues but we are limited because we are in a rural area.He had a great time at baseball camp and i will send him next year I think he got more out of that anyway.I feel the coaches son should be on the Alstars team because of the time the parent puts into it.I really wasnt upset that my son didnt make the team but what tyhe coach did .My son is very good and considered the best catcher in the league he also pitches well and is good on bases and a hitter. The coach of the allstar team specifically asked my son and his coach to be on the team. He went to all the practices and found out by the other boys he wasnt going to be on the team.I feel this was harsh for a 9 yr old if this coach changed his mind he should have handled it better.I know it was for favors for this man who he picked . He shouldnt have told my son he wanted him and than not have the guts to call him himself tell him he wasnt going to play.I was very proud of my son he still wanted to go to practice and play with the team even though he didn t play the games.

I plan on getting more involved next year and attend the meetings. This way i can find out and try to get rules set up so there is fairness evan though my son has been told he will be on the team next year. Baseball is important to him so it is to me. It should be made fair for all kids .If the coach is picking who he wants then they should not go through the sham of nominating players if they are having tryouts then it should be open to all boys who want to tryout.

do you know of any other leagues i tryed the babe ruth they dont have any in our area

That seems to be the way it is they should call it the friends of the coach team.Some towns have rules on picking allstars while others dont. This coach asked for my son to be on the team i work a lot he even told me he would pick my son up if i couldnt get him there.Two days before the tryouts he tried to get me not to put him in saying it would be too hard on me etc i had already arranged my shifts to only work 11 to 7 so i could make it. I can only assume he had some people he needed to impress and needed the spot .My son is considered to be in the top 5 players in the league.He never told my son he wasnt on the team he was going to the practices each day and found out by the other boys on the team he is 9 how do you think he felt that day.That is why i am angry that any child should be treated that way. This coach personally asked my son and my sons coach to have him on the team and told me and my husband he wanted him on the team and them ditched him. I think this is wrong and since the district managers didnt care that children are treated this way they are at fault to for not having standards. They say they are teaching good sportsmanship.I dont agree .

yes i did our town has no local bylaws and rules i spoke to the district manager and he said they dont have to.He said it ws entirely up to the coach who he wants on the team. he doesnt have to accept the nominated players if he doesnt want to.That is probably why our town doesnt do well in the alstar games because most towns around here take the best 12 players in the league.My son learned a life lesson how things in life arent always fair or right and politics come into play . It is a shame he had to learn this from baseball.Thankyou for your replies.I definitly will start attending the meetings .

it is for little league 9 and 10 year olds What happened there are 3 teams two teams sent their 4 best players the coach involved took all the members of his team to fill 10 spots and took 2 of the 4 from the other teams for the rest . I have been involved in little leagues for many year my sons range from 26 to 9 and the players were always nominated from the coaches on each team i never heard of tryouts where the whole of one team were invited and 4 players from the remaining teams. My son is 9 he is considered the best catcher in the league he can also play bases and pitch and was nominated by his coach and the coach of the alstar team didnt even tell him he wasnt on the team he found out in practice by the other kids which i find unaccepyable. I talked to the president he is new and says he doesnt know how they are supposede to be picked. I feel if they were doing tryouts instead of the nominations all three teams should have been able to attend in full force instead of only being able to nominate 4 players. The two teams had a total 0f 4 players from their teams and the remaining were from the allstar coach team

I would like information on how most leagues pick the allstar teams.In my town the coaches each recomended their players and the coach that was given the alstar coach position dismissed their players and took most of the members from his team . Is there any rules on this?
