pain in my right foot

so i did ironman 70.3 austin a few weeks ago. its a hilly course and in the last 2 miles of the run it felt like my foot was on fire. just the front portion where i land. now it feels like it might be bruised a little as there is still a bit of sensitivity there. also the inside arch is a bit sore and a friend of mine told me to foam roll the outside of my shin / calf muscle as that controls the inside of your foot. anybody know what might be going on. i have decided not to run this week in an attempt to give it a bit of a rest.

The ironman texas race in the woodlands, just north of houston. Who else is doing it. I have done 2 70.3 races this year. first one was in florida in may and did a 5:39 and then the second was ironman 70.3 austin in october and rocked a 5:06. can i do it without any formal trainer / coach. Im thinking i will just carry on my training as usual but just add mileage and intensity. Ive never used any professional coaching before. i prefer to just tap into my network of friends.

If you are brave though and are close to a lake then go for it. I am done for the year in open water swims and will probably get out in them again in about april.

Re: Need advice for running

hey rogers

ive got a few options for you. Last september i struggled with an acl sprain. saw a doc, physiotherapist and got a MRI. I decided after a bunch of therapy and some time on an alter-g anti gravity trainer that i need to get out on the road. I started out slow and was doing 1 to 2 miles at a time. eventually i got to a solid two miles a day and then decided to run every day for a 100 days. Thats was great but only made ot to 54 days before travelling made me miss a day.

One thing that came out of it was i basically ran myself into form and havent had any problems since. i brought my 10k pace down from 8:30 to about 7:30 as well.

Another thing i used a lot of was Rocktape kinesiology tape. its great for pain relief when you just have to get out there. it also helped with bloodflow and i believe it helped me recover quicker. i since done 2 70.3 races and am now training for my first full ironman.

hope this helps and gives you some out of the box options.

Rocktape is designed especially for triathletes. It is a kinesiology tape. We recently had athletes start and finish Kona ironman with their rocktape right where they put it at the start of the race.

click on my link below and check it out for yourself. you can also read my blog as i have several reviews in there about the product. this is exactly what you need. dont worry about it being under your feet either. i normally take it off myself after 5 days.

good luck, let me know how it goes.
