FROST FALCONS '02 - COACHES WANTED - PLANS UNDERWAY FOR 2012 SEASON

Frost Falcons '02 is a new addition to the Frost Falcons Fastpitch organization, the winninest and most successful fastpitch organizaton in the Tennessee Valley Region. We are based in the Chattanooga, TN area, and are a first-year 10-U select-only team. Plans are currently underway for construction of our 2012 Spring/Summer team and we are currently searching for assisant coaches with a deep knowledge and love of the game, and a strong desire to develop unbreakable bonds of mentorship and trust with the young ladies we will be coaching. Qualified considerees will possess strong moral character, knowledge of & ability to teach the fundamentals of the game as well as rules variations from the 8-U classification, ability to perform to acceptable standards and exhibit self-control in high-pressure situations, ability to communicate effectively with parents, players, officials and fellow coaches, and above all, passion and desire to help young ladies to develop their skills to the fullest extent of their athletic potential and to grow and excel as well as citizens of their respective communities as they do as athletes. The '02 Frost Falcons, a 10U Select Fastpitch Team will be conducting our final tryouts this week for the Fall 2011 Season. The format will be a practice-style workout with station-by-station breakdown and evaluations. Tryouts are open to all '02 players at all positions, as well as '01 pitchers and catchers. '02 position players with verifiable game pitching experience may be given special consideration with regard to evaluation scoring.

*We are proud to announce that David Lowrance and Benny Carroll have accepted positions on our coaching staff! Both men coached with the North Georgia Storm during the 2010 - 2011 Season; they bring with them a cumulative 11 years experience with 5 World Series appearances and 3 titles. Their expertise gives our current staff over 30 years of combined coaching experience!

Among other responsibilities, Coach Carroll will direct our training and drills, while Coach Lowrance will join duties with Manager / Coach Jody Blaski as Co-Head Coach.

We are definitely excited with the knowledge, experience and dedication these men bring to the table, and we look forward to the upcoming season and to setting the bar high and striving for excellence as we lead this team to many victories, both on and off the field!

We are proud to bear the name of the Frost Falcons Organization, the winningest fastpitch organization in the Tennessee Valley Region. The Frost Falcons is the realization of a dream for Founder Jim Frost, owner of Frost Cutlery in Ooltewah, TN, whose name also adorns the home stadium of the winningest softball team in the NCAA's Southern Conference. Since joining the Southern Conference in 1994, The UTC Lady Mocs have won 13 regular season titles and 11 conference tournament championships. Mr. Frost's creation of the Frost Falcons was born of his love for the game of softball and his desire to build a network of dedicated coaches, players, parents and facilities who would work together year-round to create not only great players and teams, but also exceptional citizens and role models within their communities, and to organize the teams in such a way that these young ladies could have the opportunity to grow and develop to the fullest extent of their potentialtogether rather than having to start with a new team each year. The advantage of playing with basically the same teammates year-in, year-out goes without stating. In a word: it works.

Our mission, as the '02 Frost Falcons, is to create young athletes who will dedicate themselves to striving for excellence at all times; to instill in these young ladies a work ethic that will allow them to achieve their goals; tobuild their character to be someone that their families, teammates, classmates, and fellow citizens can truly look up to and be proud of; and to ensure that through hard work, discipline and dedication, softball may become a vehicle to transport them to the furthest reaches of their dreams.

We are a first-year 10U team, however, we have worked hard to put together a coaching staff that is knowledgeable, experienced and proven successful, and 100% dedicated to the task at hand. Our current staff has over 30 years combined coaching experience and while no one can be perfect, we promise to strive for excellence and to lead by example through hard work, dedication and strong moral character.

We have weighed several options, and while participation in a fall open league would guarantee a certain number of games, we have agreed that, with the caliber of players we expect to have, playing in a league could be detrimental to individual athletic progression and to the development of the team. Thus, we have chosen to remain a Select-only team. Hopefully we will be able to get in at least 7 or 8 tourneys before it gets too cold. That should equal out to a minumum of around 25 games; for comparison, the league schedules only 12 or 14 games for the fall season. We do have access to indoor facilities so we will continue to practice and hold organized team activities throughout the colder fall and winter months; usually a good deal of the winter in this area is fairly mild, so we should be able to actually get outside to practice several times throughout the winter as well.

We are excited and ready to get the fall season underway! We look forward to getting to know each player and their families as we grow as a team and work toward refining our skills and expanding our softball horizons!

10U Frost Falcons '02 Tryouts

Come be a part of the winningest fastpitch organization in the TN Valley Region-- The Frost Falcons '02, a first-year 10U Select Team, will be conducting preliminary tryouts for the upcoming fall open season on Saturday, July 30, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Soddy Daisy Kids Club Softball Fields in Soddy Daisy, TN. We will be considering all positions, with emphasis on pitchers and catchers.
