Re: How do you acclimate for running in the heat?

Yes, running in the heat takes getting used to. What works for me is to make a course with about a mile loop in which I can keep a cooler with a frozen water bottle, a refrigerated spray bottle full of water, and a bag of ice cubes. Once I complete a loop, I spritz myself with water, stick an ice cube down the front and back of my sport bra and take a good drink of water. Then off to do another loop. In the past summers, I have even frozen my sport bra, it really does help.

I ran for about an hour and 10 mins at 1pm today, It wasn't quite as hot as usual due to cloud cover,( high 80;s instead of high 90's) breeze and the roll of thunder in the background, I kept thinking the rain was going to come my way and that I would run until it started, but it never made it to me. I am a little sore but will hit it again for about an hour and half tomorrow,

Hi everyone. I am in the process of training for a marathon. I am going to PCB this upcoming weekend for a few days. Does anyone know of any nice places to run?
I don't like areas of lots of traffic. I will be staying near the Wal mart right off Front Beach road, but will travel into the city park if there is a nice area to run..Thanks for any suggestions.
