I ran outside today for the first time and that dang negative voice in my head kept trying to beat me up. But I reminded myself I was lapping everyone on the couch. I too have been cheating on the diet, but today is another day to begin. I was diagnosed two years ago and have been on different treatments that work and then stop. Right now I am pretty much in a drug-induced remission and that's good. I never know how long it will last. Since I was diagnosed I have gained about 30 pounds. I'm right at 200. I hate it. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;In March I took the plunge and decided, pain or no pain, I was getting fit. I joined the Y and hired a trainer. I work with her 2x a week and do cardio 4-6x a week. Tomorrow I will begin W4D1 of C25K. Since March I have gained 8 pounds. *sigh* Time to get serious about my diet.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I run/shuffle on a treadmill at home. I just cannot bring myself to run in public yet. Like you, I have found I get that burst near the end. I also tried to increase speed a bit, or run longer and got the same results. I think I will stick with the plan and respect the people who put it in place. I am new here and have been reading, trying to decide which thread to post in for the first time. I guess this 50+ thread fits. &lt;img height="16px" src="http://community.active.com/4.5.5/images/emoticons/happy.gif" width="16px"/&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I am 50, really overweight, and I have rheumatoid arthritis. The disease is my greatest challenge. Since May I have been feeling pretty good. The meds I am on now are working. Unfortunately, because of the nature of the disease, what works today might fail tomorrow. Regardless, in March I signed up at the Y and hired a personal trainer for weight training. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I started C25K last month, never, ever dreaming I could actually run again. Despite all my increased activity, weights 2x a week, C25K 3x a week, 30 minutes of cardio 3-5 x a week, I have not lost a pound. Maybe it's time to diet? &lt;img height="16px" src="http://community.active.com/4.5.5/images/emoticons/wink.gif" width="16px"/&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Anyway, I feel better, stronger, and healthier than I have in years.
