It will be alright...Continue to taper on the training and get more rest. When I start feeling like this, I try to get to bed at least one hour earlier than I usually do. Continue to eat well and stick to the plan. Remember, the hay is in the barn. Trust your training that you have put in and look forward to a great race!

Good luck and let us know how you do.

Brad

Re: Should I try a half-sprint or a full-sprint?

Hey Dave!

Welcome!!! Based on what you have written, I believe you could the full sprint. Having goggle for is a must though! I wear contacts as well and would never dare swim without goggles. It sounds like you can accomplish the bike and run portion fairly easily. I would focus on more time in pool to get more comfortable with the distance. Also, look locally for a masters swim class, you will be shocked how much you will learn and how quickly you will improve.

I think the mini is just too short for your experience so far...I think you might be disappointed about the lack challenge that it will provide based on your ability. The full sprint will give you a much better feel for racing triathlons. I can almost assure you that once you complete it, I bet you will be hooked for life. It is a great lifestyle. The people or what I like to say the "family" of triathletes are very close and only want the best for their fellow triathletes.

Have fun and let us know how it goes.

Best of Luck!!!

Brad

I hand wash it for about 10-15 minutes and rinse with cold water and then hang to dry. This has worked great for me and gets the "funk" out of the suit.

Hope this helps.

I am a huge fan of Accelerade's Accel Gel and Honey Stinger. For hydration, if it under 6, I will bring 2 - 10oz water flasks that have Accelerades Hydro Sports drink in it. This helps during the run and after the run when re-hydrating. If I go longer than 6 miles, I will bring 4 flasks...3 with Accelerade's Hydro Sports drink and 1 bottle with just water, to help with the gels.

I hope this helps!

Brad
