1/2 training and recovery

Is anyone here training for a particular race w/ an existing injury?

I have been battling knee problems (ITBS in one knee, patellar tendonitis in the other) for about a month and they are finally getting better. Prior to developing the problems, I had registered and payed for a 1/2 in September and the (very expensive) hotel rooms. So in my mind, backing out is not an option. Getting better and training is the only solution.

Prior to my set back, I had logged in some 7-8-9 mile runs. That was about 2 months ago. I'm now at 2-3 miles 4 x's a week and working back up. What are the odds that I'll be ready in 12 weeks to do a 1/2? Not 'racing', just running. And I'm fully prepared to take regular walk breaks.

Thanks!
