I've tightened the knob on my downtube index shifter(s) just about as tight as it will go. The shifter arm still slips when I pedal hard. The shifters have been on the bike since it was new in 1990, and I use it at least a couple of times a week. Do I need new shifters, or is it something else?

                                                                                                                Paul
