Maine Runner - I too have never ran the Wolf's Neck 10K, but a friend of mine did last year and he told me that it's basically the same 10K course as the Lobsterman Tri. He also told me that its a part road, part trail race, and that it's definitely not a flat race.

Dick - Unfortunately, I live more on the Gorham end (I'm only 2 miles from Route 25) of Route 112, so I've never gotten down to that portion of Buxton and don't know that area too well. One thing I would not recommend is DO NOT run on Route 112. The road itself (undulation) is not too bad and don't have any blind corners, but people speed on that road.

Now, there's a section of Gorham trail that parallel Route 202/4, but I don't know where the trail head begins (or ends) in the Gorham/Buxton side - the "other end" begins at the high school. You're not too far from me (10 minutes or so), so let me know if you ever want to get together for a run.

Hey all -

I've spent the last month or so goofing off and haven't been running much. I did the Portland Trails 10K but walked it with a friend of mine instead of running it. Three of us ran the Pineland 5K last Saturday and had a great time - no PRs - we took turns pushing a two-year-old in a stroller, which was a great workout! We had a lot of fun - the crowd seemed much smaller this year than last year at Pineland.

I was supposed to do the half marathon, but didn't prepare properly and wasn't ready. I was sorry to read about Julius Marzul, but I suppose if I were to choose a way to go, I would prefer that over other ways. I remember seeing him finish at the Yarmouth Clam and thinking, "boy, I hope that's ME in another fifty years!!"

I'm looking at some of the upcoming shorter races and hope to pick up a few more 5Ks. I'm leaning towards working on PRs for 5Ks and 10Ks than shooting for anything longer (for right now anyway).

Hope everyone is out enjoying this great fall weather!

----

~J[/URL" target="_blank">

[http://This message has been edited by jwmacleod67 (edited Oct-06-2004).|http://This message has been edited by jwmacleod67 (edited Oct-06-2004).]

However, if I feel that I can't get in adequate training, I'll drop out of the full and run the half (haven't signed up yet and probably won't till Sept.). Training's going really well for me. I'm currently holding steady at around 30 mpw and looking to slowly bump it up as the summer progress.

I'm in for B2B and Clam Fest. I've done both races 2 years in a row, so I'm looking forward to keeping that streak going.

Bob, good luck going sub 20, you're a strong runner and I have no doubt that you'll accomplish that goal.

Have fun training everyone. It has been a weird spring/summer thus far with the continue rain and now the heat. Lets keep our fingers crossed in that we won't get continues days of 90+ temp and 90+% humidity.

[http://This message has been edited by elufa (edited Jun-15-2004).|http://This message has been edited by elufa (edited Jun-15-2004).]

That is one thing I was disappointed in, they never got to posting any times even by 1:30. The other thing was the fact that they only had one water station, they really need to rethink that!

I know that Curlygirl61 had a great time as well, but I'll let her post her time.

Once again I am anxiously awaiting to hear about being drafted, I will contine to be patient or impatient whatever the case may be.

Talk to you later.

----

"Keep on Running"

Bob

[http://This message has been edited by bobscamman (edited Apr-19-2004).|http://This message has been edited by bobscamman (edited Apr-19-2004).]

in downtown Topsham and Brunswick. I don't think I will be running it but volunteering instead. Hope to see some of you there. I will be sporting my MDI Marathon shirt. It is a white, long-sleeve with a green and blue logo just like the logo on the web-site[/URL" target="_blank">. Hope to see some of you there.

For those of you that are new to the Portland area, Portland Trails[/URL" target="_blank"> is a great place to learn many great places to run. If anyone wants to know any good places in the Brunswick area to run, hit me up, I would be glad to point out some places to you. As a matter of fact I was learning my boss's part time paper route the other day so I could sub' for him and I found a really nice spot to run. It's just over 5k if you park on Foreside Rd. and run to the end and back. I said to him; "hey, this looks like an awesome road to run. I will have to try it out." He then said, "yea, you gotta be careful some mornings because a lot of runners come here." Pleasant Point Rd. hugs Merrymeeting Bay and is a very quiet, small, snake-like road with a lot of little houses along it. click here[/URL" target="_blank"> and put in driving directions from '1 Pleasant Point Rd.' to '330 Pleasant Point Rd.' in Topsham to check it out.

--<del>
<br /><br />Anyway, I am looking forward to this years running and hope to see this thread stay active. It's good to be back !http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/biggrin.gif|src=http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/biggrin.gif|border=0!<br /><br />,Reed<br /><br /><br /></del>--

My User Profile[/URL" target="_blank">
e-Gel[/URL" target="_blank">
camelbak flashflo[/URL" target="_blank">
Timex GPS[/URL" target="_blank">

[http://This message has been edited by bikerreed (edited Apr-13-2004).|http://This message has been edited by bikerreed (edited Apr-13-2004).]

I would say to keep doing what your doing now and add on mileage slowly (remember the 10% rule!!). To get in adequate/serious training, you would probably need to decide by early/mid June. That would give you about 18 weeks to train, which is about the length of some marathon programs.

Good luck and happy running.

[edited to say early/mid June]

[http://This message has been edited by elufa (edited Mar-05-2004).|http://This message has been edited by elufa (edited Mar-05-2004).]
