I am typically out running again three days post-marathon, generally frustrated that Pfitzinger has me running so few miles so slowly. But then, I did pull a muscle last year racing a 10K hard six days after Boston. It was worth it, for a 32-second PR. But it did cost me a couple weeks training for that Eugene marathon I met you at seven weeks later.

Not sure I can really swing CMM anyway, time-wise, but now at least I know it would get me my MM shirt!

Sorry bhearn, you'll have to learn that one for yourself. It all depends on your recovery.

If you feel good at the start of #2, you might pace the first 10 miles at 30 sec/mile slower than normal, then choose to fade/hold/push based on how you feel there.

The reason you won't get a really good answer from a maniac on how to pace a second marathon after 13 days rest is that this rest interval is "normal" for many of us. FWIW, 3 weeks rest is considered "slacker." !http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/biggrin.gif|src=http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/biggrin.gif|border=0!

I found last year that the recovery interval adapted very fast. It only takes a few months of spacing marathons at 2-4 weeks before a 5 day recovery left me pretty fresh.

You need to do any one. Many people think that 3 in 3 months is the easiest, though personally I think that 2 in 16 days is the easy one. Just sandbag the first a little.

Ah, great! The first one would be Boston, which I don't plan on sandbagging even a little, but the weather may have other ideas. I'm kind of thinking of CMM in Nashville two weeks later, run at an easy pace, if I feel good after Boston. My parents live there, and it would be good to drop in for a couple of days.

I've never done this before; what should I expect? I plan on ~3:15 for Boston (again modulo weather); I'm thinking maybe 3:30 pace for CMM would be reasonable? Coming off an 18-week Pfitz plan, BTW. Something between the 55 and 70.

quote:

You find yourself combing the web for races and saying things like "if I build up to it I can do these six marathons in October..."

Ha! Fortunately that is just not remotely possible time-wise, so I won't have to worry about that. I'll just have to remain inadequate until (at the least) I have more time.

Bob[/URL" target="_blank">

You look at your own name with "only" a single-digit number of marathons this year, then see all the other people with 20, 40, or more marathons thisyear_. You find yourself combing the web for races and saying things like "if I build up to it I can do these six marathons in October..."

----

-Hippo-

We went to face our demons, but all we found were angels.
me[/URL" target="_blank">
