Into the Wildlands Limestone Eco Challenge 12k/20k Trail Race
April 28th, 2012 & October 6th, 2012

Limestone Canyon, part of the Irvine Ranch Open Space, is located on the historic Irvine Ranch. Because of its rare biological and geological features the land is designated as a National Natural Landmark by the U.S. Department of Interior and is the first California Natural Landmark. Limestone Canyon, like all of Orange County, is in a Mediterranean Climate Zone which only occurs in five places in the world. Mediterranean Climate Zones occupy less than 2% of the Earth's surface, but host 20% of the plant and animal species known to exist in the world.
