      <description>&lt;!-- [DocumentBodyStart:ae4953da-455e-48f0-9fbf-89dc88a03bbf] --&gt;&lt;div class="jive-rendered-content"&gt;&lt;p&gt;Well, I was glad I rested!&amp;#160; My legs &amp;amp; feet felt better by today.&amp;#160; I didn't know what to expect on my first 5K and it wasn't a huge run.&amp;#160; I came in at 30:25, which I was happy with for my first time.&amp;#160; It was soooo hot and humid here this morning in FL!&amp;#160; But, all in all it was fun and a good first experience!&amp;#160; The fastest runner came in at 17 min...I am amazed at that!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Good luck to those that have their 5K tomorrow!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;!-- [DocumentBodyEnd:ae4953da-455e-48f0-9fbf-89dc88a03bbf] --&gt;</description>

I'll just have to run naturally and not think about it so much for the run!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I guess I'm going to take it easy the remainder of the week since I want my calves to be completely normal by Saturday.&amp;#160; I may do a short easy run tomorrow and no run on Friday so I'm fresh for Saturday.&amp;#160; I know I can run the 5K....it's just a matter of how much effort I will put intoit&amp;#160; since I don't want to burn out too quickly.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Shelly - GOOD LUCK on your 5K!!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Utleymom - I don't have an answer for you.       <description>&lt;!-- [DocumentBodyStart:c9a713ae-1770-4ca9-9990-e101d176cacc] --&gt;&lt;div class="jive-rendered-content"&gt;&lt;p&gt; Hi Kathy,&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Congrats on your first 5k this coming weekend.&amp;#160; I would say do whatever makes you feel the most confident and prepared in these final few days before the race.&amp;#160; It is difficult to try and figure out "race pace" training initially because there are too many variables, but that will come with time and experience with more events.&amp;#160; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Recovery efforts are important, but they also vary greatly depending on individual circumstances, so so a walk/run combination, a mile at full speed, some low-impact cross-training or any/all of the above might present for helpful options before Saturday.&amp;#160; I apologize for the vague suggestions, but everyone is different and it is really a matter of how you arrive at the best fitness level for a particular challenge.&amp;#160; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Honestly, I would not devote a great deal of time to changing foot strike at this point.&amp;#160; That is an area for future focus that you can develop along with other factors as you progress in your training and goals.&amp;#160; (compression socks or calf sleeves with help).&amp;#160; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Just go and have fun and celebrate completing this first journey...wishing you all the best for crossing many finish lines!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;!-- [DocumentBodyEnd:c9a713ae-1770-4ca9-9990-e101d176cacc] --&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;!-- [DocumentBodyStart:bfcd5039-db16-48ac-ba97-410d6f8ea8f4] --&gt;&lt;div class="jive-rendered-content"&gt;&lt;p&gt;I finished the C25K last December and kept up with running 3 miles/3x a week and more recently added another day at 4 miles.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;My first 5K is this Saturday, 9/29.&amp;#160; It's not a huge run, so I thought it would be less intimidating to me since I haven't wanted to do a run as of yet.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I've read a lot about what to do the week prior to the race, but it is mind boggling and I just want to run and have fun and enjoy my first race!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I ran 4 miles this past Saturday and 3 miles Monday and today.&amp;#160; I shouldn't have done this but I tried to change how I land on my feet on Monday by trying to get a better mid foot strike.&amp;#160; I ended up really having sore calves after that.&amp;#160; It's not so bad today, but today I took my 3 miles at an easy pace.&amp;#160; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I do want my calves and legs to feel fresh on Saturday. Should I even run anymore this week?&amp;#160; Or just rest?&amp;#160; Or maybe do some walking instead?&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Do I run the race faster that my normal every day runs?&amp;#160; I'm afraid to get burned out too quickly!&amp;#160; I just don't know what to expect, but my goal is my time to be somewhere around 30 minutes.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Any advice is greatly appreciated!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;!-- [DocumentBodyEnd:bfcd5039-db16-48ac-ba97-410d6f8ea8f4] --&gt;</description>
