I did see that line - very funny, and true!!

Also - I'm thinking about starting grad school soon...although not much time since I started an ad agency on the side for logos, websites, etc...that takes up most of my free time when I'm not working out, dreaming about MCM ladies, or going to summer concerts.

If I can do grad school and train, she can do grad school and train. We're all busy and make time... she can do it!

Isaac, you're too young to be posting "back in my day" stories, but... Happy Birthday, dear! Hope it's a great one! And we def expect to see you at Carpool this year!

Yep, MCM 2007 was my first marathon, just started running several months before that, trying to see if I could run a 5K . I did.

I remember I had work schedule last year on registration day, had to be in a deposition and was freaking out. So I had my daughter register us both the second they opened and I couldn't WAIT for a recess so I could call her and confirm that we were in. I'll be here tomorrow, so I can do it myself And she decided yesterday she really wants to run it again, although she was worried about being in grad school and working and not having time. Kat, I'll tell her to suck it up and run!

A) Nita - the MCM 2007 was your first marathon? I was under the impression that you had run many! It was my first marathon too...I'm glad it went off without a hitch. It was fun training solo at nights and on the weekends, and the raceday weather was really ideal...what a fun time and minimum injuries!

C) There is a great bunch of folks on here...I wish I had more time to get to know you all better, just really busy lately! I post on a piano-related forum (although we never talk about pianos) and I know everyone there so well, wish I could spend more time to know you all better to. Maybe this time I won't be a slacker and will meet up at Carpool after MCM 2008!

D) I wish I was 23 again...granted that was only 3 years ago (26 on Saturday!), but those were the days...

Expo: Toss up. NYC tends to get more "latest and greatest" stuff being previewed, but MCM has more free samples and better deals. There was a really long line to get into the MCM expo; no such problem in NYC.

Start area: MCM. Getting to baggage at NYC took 40 minutes to move about 300 yards. Also with the start on (subwayless) Staten Island and the finish in Central Park, NYC is logistically challenging.

Excitement: NYC. NYC is king of hype and it's well earned. NYC is also almost half international, which adds some extra flair.

Crowds: NYC. MCM is great with crowd support, but NYC wins hands down. Brooklyn & Manhattan crowd support is amazing!

Terrain: Toss up. The two are about equal in terms of hilliness - middle of the road.

Scenery: Toss up. NYC is a lot of fun neighborhoods, plus the bridges, and Central Park. Y'all know MCM.

Finish area: Forfeit. In terms of just-finished prolonged sardine-like claustrophobia, NYC and MCM were by far my worst experiences.

Medal: Toss up.
