I for one did not take it as he wasn't great. I am just excited that I know he is still somewhat human. I mean he does run these things in under 3 hours. The guy is truly amazing but still human. I loved that commercial where he tralks about what all we can do with our body. That is the reason for my insanity at times. I can't wait to see how Vermont goes because after that I see a 50, and 100 miler coming my way. I would love to run something crazy. He is very inspiring.

I don't think anyone was saying Lance wasn't awesome, just saying we are too Obviously he's amazing. I love his interview in Runner's World. Don't you love to hear someone say how difficult the marathon is? Someone like HIM?

Lance got my smoking overweight Dad to quite smoking and park his a$$ on a bike. I know a lot of people say he's not that nice of a guy, but he's changed a lot of lives for the better. Two people I can forgive a lot of - Lance for inspiring people to get in shape, and Oprah for inspiring people to read.

Lance did an interview with either Runners World or Running Times recently and pretty much admitted being undertrained for his first marathon. Since then he has taken the training much more seriously. It's a good interview, done in the last couple months.

Charlie for the record my buddy ssaid he barely noticed Lance during the race. He saw a small crowd in the corral but nothing too crazy and passed him in the first few miles and never looked back. He was more excited about seeing his entourage instead of Lance. He has always been somewhat of a hero. Him, Greg Lemond, A few of the triathletes from those days.

My brothers and I used to hold mini triathlons all the time growing up. We would spend the day at the pool and after it closed we would race 200-500 yards of swimming, get out and hustle to the bike and ride the 3 miles home, and follow it by a mile or so of running. Those type of people are what influenced me growing up.

I have nothing against Lance...I personally think he is an awesome athlete! Coming back from cancer, winning seven Tour de France and running his first marathon under 3 hrs with severe shin splints is just amazing. He even said that the marathon was the hardest thing that he had done. He even ran Boston legitimately with a qualifying time. I was amused by the Boston finish where all the guys were racing past him to the finish line for bragging rights of "I beat Lance at Boston". I don't envy his entourage or this fame because I feel he is well deserving of it. Imagine how exhausting it must be for him to show up anywhere and have mobs of reporters and people clustering around him...all the time...everywhere he goes, and he always appears humble and grateful. Even with his pacers, HE still had to run 26.2 and he has done extremely well. I wouldn't mind if I was in the same starting lane/corral so I could run a couple of miles with him...but his pace would be faster than I could sustain for the entire marathon. I'll just be happy to be there!
