      <description>&lt;!-- [DocumentBodyStart:86cc5e00-ed71-4d88-bc0e-9bab3ee94475] --&gt;&lt;div class='jive-rendered-content'&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Hi!&amp;nbsp; I've only been running/walking about 3 months and I had gallbladder surgery 2 weeks ago.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I really miss my time running as I was just beginning to run more than I walk.&amp;nbsp; I was running 3-4 times per week.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I only did a few core exercises 2 other days out of the week.&amp;nbsp; My goal is to run in at least 1&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; 5 K by the spring.&amp;nbsp; I don't really have&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;a set training schedule but I do walk/run 30 minutes&amp;nbsp; 3-4 x per week.&amp;nbsp; I guess I need to set a better training schedule for myself&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;once I get the ok from my doc.&amp;nbsp; Just want to say running relieves stress, lifts my mood, and helps me forget a lot of my problems&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;while I am doing it:D &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;!-- [DocumentBodyEnd:86cc5e00-ed71-4d88-bc0e-9bab3ee94475] --&gt;</description>

To maintain a good quality of life, and in the short term prepare for the Miami Marathon at the end of January, which will be my 10th full marathon &amp;amp; heaven knows how many 1/2marathons&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;2.Depends upon the length of the race -- usually use Runner's World programs&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;3. 3 - 4, but I try to walk a lot on off days&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;4. I try to but seldom does it work out except on Fridays when I do Yoga&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;5. Hate running inside especially since my treadmill is down -- I'll run outside unless it gets too cold (usually 0 F or with a wind chill of 0 F) opr unless its raining -- hate running in a cold rain.. misting is ok&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;6. If so, what do you do? (approx. 1/4 of my time is walking and 3/4 running and my pace is at about a 13 min mile - I'm taking it slow and steady)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li level="1" type="ol"&gt;&lt;p&gt;Do you train on non-running days? If so, what do you do? &lt;span style="color:#0000ff"&gt;I take a "bootcamp" class twice a week with a trainer at my gym. Core training has really improved my overall fitness and I have lost more weight due to the class and reduced my body fat percentage.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li level="1" type="ol"&gt;&lt;p&gt;Running outside or inside? &lt;span style="color:#0000ff"&gt;Inside on the treadmill. At the moment I am more comfortable there. I do plan to take my training outside as I get better.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li level="1" type="ol"&gt;&lt;p&gt;How are you tracking your progress? &lt;span style="color:#0000ff"&gt;I have been marking my calendar but just started a spreadsheet. I think I might check out the Nike+.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ol&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="color:#0000ff"&gt;I too am a new runner. I started in September and added the core training in November. Since I joined the gym in June I have lost almost 20 lbs. At the start I had about 40 to 50 mlbs that I wanted to lose. Now I am just hoping to reduce my BMI and just be healthy. I turned 40 last month and it was kind of my wake up call because I finally admitted to myself that I am not invincible and I really needed to take care of myself so I am here for 40+ more years. I have to say, I look and feel much better because of the cross training.&amp;nbsp; I did a 5 k and a 10k this month and am doing another 10k on Dec. 6th so thats what I'm training for.&amp;nbsp; Its cool to see you do Tai Chi.&amp;nbsp; I see the old Chinese guys and ladies doing that in the park at sunrise and I'm all, "pretty soon I'm gonna be just like that!" I used to try and have a perfect workout schedule, and if I missed a day it would completely throw me off and eventually that day turned into a whole bunch more. Now, if the weather is bad or if I'm feeling pain I'll just do a different kind of workout. What training program are you using? None right now, as I find that following a program can make me push a bit too hard through injuries.&amp;nbsp; I just run 3-4 miles 3x per week, and have a long run on the weekends, slowly increasing this distance (my next should be 6.5).&amp;nbsp; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;3. How many times per week are you running/walking? 4x, although once my knee feels fully better, I'd like to move it up to 5.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;4. Do you train on non-running days? Not right now, but I'm going to start doing some strength training next week.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;5. Running outside or inside? Always outside!&amp;nbsp; And this isn't easy, now that I'm running in 20* weather, but I love it.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;6. My immediate goal is to run a 5K. My long term goal is to be physically fit enough to join the Army JAG Corps next year. What training program are you using? Robert Ullerys Couch to 5K Program. This is my 2nd attempt with the program, but the longest I've maintained. I'm on day 3 of Week 6. (However, I doubled up on Weeks 4 and 5). &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;3. How many times per week are you running/walking? 3 times per week running with walking/cross-training days between runs.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;4. Do you train on non-running days? If so, what do you do? On alternate non-running days I walk or do the elliptical machine with 1 hour of weight training. Sit-ups, push-ups, and a little yoga everyday too.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;5. Running outside or inside? Definitely outside. I love the fresh air and feeling like I'm going somewhere!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;6. How are you tracking your progress? Totally old-school. I write it down on my calendar.
