Thanks for the good scoop. Santa was kind enough to bring me one for Christmas. I figured out why there were different models for different regions - the charger.

Now I know.

I just saw your post but just to let you know that the 405 does works in Asia. I've traveled all over the world with the 405 and it works fine. (and I'm in the same line of work you are based on your screen name)

Dear Maybe Garmin user,

I have the 205 and I can tell you for a fact that it works in Europe with my experience. I hope this helps ya.

Has anyone had experience with any Garmin GPS products and the ability to use them in all area of the world?

I have been researching the 405 and it offers a US, European, and Asian version. The fact that I may be soon traveling to Asia has me leery of spending the $300 for the US version, then moving to Asia and finding out it doesn't work there.

I spoke with Garmin and they said there will be no problems. Does anybody have a Garmin product that they have used in multiple regions?
