We spent an hour on speed work and finished the session working without the belts. I worked on strength and flexibility the last two days. Today will be a run of undetermined distance as I'm still running for time rather than miles. I'll get the bike out later, dressed like the Michelin Man, just to see why I should quit hoping for nicer weather and put it on the trainer. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Rich, I don't think there are any posting rules here. Working through an injury or illness often seems more difficult than any distance run. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;2009 resolution: Resist being a mileage junkie while continuing work in the water and on the wheels. Enter and participate in a sprint triathlon. I'd also like to do a time trial. (I hope Rich doesn't read this before I have time to come to my senses and edit.)&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I realize this post is so last year. 2 miles in 18:15.&amp;nbsp; It was on a measured trail, so I know the distance.&amp;nbsp; 2 hrs on the bike, shifting every time I felt any real effort.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Message was edited by: euphoric to include wrong year noted and run time.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;!-- [DocumentBodyEnd:3684c672-7887-4fdc-b4cb-7330a6bfa503] --&gt;</description>

There were a few times I wondered where the wind would take me. I piled the clothes on so I could fight this weather head on. I did not have to tie my jacket around my waist, but I did unzip it just a little (no fines for unzipping, right??). Splits: 12:04, 12:39, 11:36 and 12:04 &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I hope to do another 4 tomorrow...ring out the old with 4, ring in the new with 4. That's the plan. Then a 9 miler this weekend.       <description>&lt;!-- [DocumentBodyStart:1ef0285e-910b-4a75-b18f-188bd5f9a3af] --&gt;&lt;div class='jive-rendered-content'&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Yes, I agree that not all things elites do are transferable to us sloggers.&amp;nbsp; My range is 8 min (5k pace) to 12 min (very slow) per mile.&amp;nbsp; It's funny with slow running.&amp;nbsp; On the TM I notice that my HR drops as I move from 12 min miles to about 10:30 or so.&amp;nbsp; Then it begins to rise again.&amp;nbsp; I take that as a sign that my best easy pace is around 10:30 to 11 min.&amp;nbsp; Any slow and my form prolly begins to suffer, causing HR to rise.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; Fresh snow last nite....about 8 inches of powder.&amp;nbsp; Wish I were in good shape so that I could go for a ski.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Two very uncomfortable nights of sleep.&amp;nbsp; I either have a bruised hammy or bursitis.&amp;nbsp; It's surprising how much something like this limits your daily activity.&amp;nbsp; Any time I go to sit, including going for a dump is very difficult.&amp;nbsp; Putting socks on is equally challenging!&amp;nbsp; I feel it's a bit better today, so maybe I can go for a walk or something. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; Happy new year to everyone!&amp;nbsp; If Fred doesn't start a new post we can just pull Mr Ribs' trick and keep on posting on this one! &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;!-- [DocumentBodyEnd:1ef0285e-910b-4a75-b18f-188bd5f9a3af] --&gt;</description>
