You may be able to complete the race anyway but it needs to be treated. A visit to a doctor may be in order. See this web site for more information. http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_5/191.shtml

Len

They are very knowledeable about sports injuries and can provide soothing massage to tissues in the pain area. There might also be some stretching exercise that can bring about some temporary relief to the foot arch. It might be a good idea to seek an expert opinion prior to running again, just to avoid further damage to the tissues.

I've been training for my first 1/2 marathon for 4 months. During last week's run I did something to the arch of my foot. I took a few days off and tried to run 1 mile yesterday and still have the pain. I've got a lot invested in this- time, money, pride. Do I try to go see a sports podiatrist? Should I continue with advil and rolling the muscles out? GASP- do I not run?! I've got a pretty high pain tolerance but is it possible to do more damage? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Stacy
