Turns out my ache was not an infection. I had a TMJ subluxation (jaw joint misaligned). As soon as I was aligned again, I could hear! By the way, ONE drop of lavender or tea tree essential oils on a saturated cottonball with almond oil or water works for me after a workout in the pool. Just squeeze to fill ear and let it drain out. The combination of oil and essential oil helps to replace the skin protecting wax that gets washed out with pool chemicals. Both essential oils have antibacterial qualities. Tea tree has antiviral qualities as well. This helps me feel better if there is a little bit of pool water left in my ear. If you decide to try this, you should expect to feel a little tingling sensation. Again, use only ONE drop.
