We'll all be rooting for you.

Of course, I did walk the last 1.75 miles or so...I had finished the W3D3 running...and was going to keep on running...but the hills really got to me. Plus, I'm only 1/3 done...no need to hurt myself and set my training back.

Anyway...even if I were in normal shape, it was an utterly brutal course...I feel like I'll be running it again next year for the challenge.

The title says this will go through tomorrow???

Family stress recently has cut into running routine. M-I-L into hospital, multiple health problems, now into nursing home, prognosis is not good - I'm spending time at the hospital/nursing home, doing errands, etc. Then DD developed viral pneumonia that a specialist said could be related to the H1N1 pneumonia - spent time at her home with their 3-year-old and 6-month-old and doing whatever necessary - tomorrow is dr appt for her. But that's life, and we're glad we're retired so we can help family.

ANYway, tomorrow I begin again, maybe on week 4, probably on week 3. From watching my m-i-l's declining strength, I've relearned the importance of keeping moving, no matter how little.

You are running circles around me.

You'll have to join the "whippersnapper" support group if you keep that up.

I am so glad the wedding was successful. It is good to have you back.

Donna,

Good runs. I bet that Chicago race was something else. I went to school at Northwestern and had

some good times in Chicago.

Today was quite unusual. Got up at 5:30 am (yes, even on a Saturday). As I was warming up, I felt horrible. I usually run/walk 1 mile to warm-up.

After warming up, I stretched for a long time. Little by little I felt better. Finally, I started my long run. I had planned to run an additional 5 miles.

All of the sudden, I felt great! First three miles had a good pace and sprinted into mile 3.1. Took walk breaks at each mile mark. Mile 5 was rough.

I was afraid I had pushed too much early on. My hamstrings were getting sore. I had to slowdown to my warm-up pace.

Did a sprint into mile 5.2.

While I was walking, I thought-why not run one more?

I had already run 6.2 miles counting the warm-up. At that point, I had been running 1:22. So, what the hey!

I ran one more mile and sprinted into mile 7.2. 1 mile for warm-up and 6.2 miles. This was the longest run I have ever attempted.

I spent 2:02 hours of actual run/walk time. The most I walked was 2 minutes at the mile 5 & mile 6.

I didn't hit Jenny's speed but I ran the first 3.2 miles at 15:50 perfect Penquin pace. My total pace was 16:58.

Those last three miles were a bit slower. But even slow miles count!

Probably operator error...

The wedding was wonderful - in spite of the rain - and I'm quite glad it is over.

This week I've had 2 great runs (both without stopping or walking) - Monday I did 2.7 @13.9 pace and today (drum roll, please) I did 3.1 @13.0 pace!! I am so happy that I want to get out and do it again tomorrow. But I won't. One of the things I have to learn is that becoming an adult-onset athlete means that I can't train like you young whippersnappers.

Did I just say, "whippersnappers"???

I will wait until Monday to run again, but will enjoy some nice long walks in between. I do believe it's time for me to consider RUNNING a 5k.

How's everyone been?
