I suppose many of you have no idea who I am, but I started C25K&amp;#160; last August&amp;#160; and&amp;#160; was here when the 200+ threads started and were dedicated to those among us just maybe just starting our path to become "runners.&amp;#160; I place for beginners&amp;#160; to&amp;#160; meet and support each other as we take our first steps.&amp;#160; I wonder if&amp;#160; any of those folks are still here.&lt;img height="16px" src="http://community.active.com/4.5.5/images/emoticons/happy.gif" width="16px"/&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;But it's great that peopla are here to come back and share with. I've gone the wrong way since I left, stopped running in November when it got cold,&amp;#160; gained 10 or so more pounds and generally lost it.&amp;#160; But I am back now, first run of my new W1D1 was tonight. 40degrees and dark but there have already been too many "tomorrows," I wasn't&amp;#160; doing one more. I can't.&amp;#160; I weighed in tonight at 288 lbs....&lt;img height="16px" src="http://community.active.com/4.5.5/images/emoticons/shocked.gif" width="16px"/&gt;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160; I've got 100 pounds to lose in 10 months. My goal is to hit my 40th birthday January 5th at my goal weight for the first time in my adult life.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Run went good,&amp;#160; but hard.&amp;#160; I did more like a mid-week 2 workout, just to see how far I could push.&amp;#160; Wednesday is&amp;#160; back to&amp;#160; true W1D2 and start with a slow build.&amp;#160; I look forward to meeting everyone!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Happy running!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;!-- [DocumentBodyEnd:d0490295-5e56-4919-8781-0d0682c24ed6] --&gt;</description>

Anyway, there's a lot of threads with differents programs/training plans here and I just thought it'd be nice to share our last runs regardless of the plan we're following. What do you think?&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Here goes mine: I'm currently training for a half marathon in April, following a modified SmartCoach plan (RunnersWorld). I ran 10 km yesterday - 6 km fartlek plus warm up and cool down 2&amp;#160; km each, ended up with the time of 56:46 at 75% HR max. I can't find it now. The term came from a man named John Bingham who used to write a column about slow runners for Runners World. He has a blog here &lt;a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://johnbingham.competitor.com/"&gt;http://johnbingham.competitor.com/&lt;/a&gt; and another website at &lt;a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://www.johnbingham.com/penguin.html"&gt;http://www.johnbingham.com/penguin.html&lt;/a&gt;.&amp;#160; Some of us are penguins because we run for the joy of running and not for the competition. Some are just competing against themselves.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I wanted to start a thread for slow runners because I am a slow runner, a jogger, even called a wogger before. I run in the 15:30mm and average with walking 16:30mm. I used to be at least a minute slower than this. I am over 200 pounds and have lost 35 so far. I am turning 50 in September and just want to be in shape. My kids are in college and it is me time now. I am renewing my running since I finished graduate school and ready to start running in earnest again. I signed up for a 10K the day I finished my MBA and have 12 weeks to prepare for it. I had only been running about 2 miles so have to go farther to get to that 6.2 miles of a 10K.&amp;#160; I am looking for a program but they seem to be too hard for me or even a little too easy.       <title>Hip injury</title>

      <description>&lt;!-- [DocumentBodyStart:5e484150-6b8f-4563-9d2a-fe4e4841a02b] --&gt;&lt;div class="jive-rendered-content"&gt;&lt;p&gt;Hi everyone.&amp;#160; I am 50 years old, and started the couch to 5 K programm a bit over 3 weeks ago.&amp;#160; I ran a bit when I was youn ger but never for a very long stretch.&amp;#160; I am not in great shape, but not terrible either: I am 5'11" and weight 175 pounds.&amp;#160; I don,t smoke, I play golf, bik a bit and do a bit of ski in summer.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I picked the programm because it was very gradual, and followed it closely.&amp;#160; I started with very good but older running shoes, and a couple of week ago went to a runner shop and bought a good pair of Saucony.&amp;#160; I always streched before and after the trianing.&amp;#160; I took things very easy, slow jog, things were going well and I was very motivated.&amp;#160; Then I started feeling some light pains in both kees after week 2.&amp;#160; At my age, I kind of expect some level of discomfort picking up running, so I carired on.&amp;#160; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I changed my running technique (I tend to hit heavily on the heel, causing the knee problem) to spare my knee, ans started jogging more on the mid and front of my foot.&amp;#160; I then got pretty sore calves, again, painfull but not unbearable.&amp;#160; I tried to do extra stretch of the calves.&amp;#160; But in the middle of the third week, I started feeling a pain on my left hip joint.&amp;#160; The last time I ran, last wednesday, it was pretty bad, and it got a lot worst after.&amp;#160; In the follwinf days, I was walking with a big limp, having quite some pain on my hip koint and a bit behind it.&amp;#160; No pain when I am not moving.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I took time off, have not ran since, ad am taking Aleeve twice a day.&amp;#160; The pain is slowly going away but is still there.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Any advice as to what caused it and how I can prevent it from happening again would be greatly appreciated.&amp;#160; I am feeling a bit discourage at the moment, because, I thought motivation might be my problem, but it was not, i was actually looking for my run every second day.&amp;#160; I took things super easy, on good shows, and still manage to hurt myself.&amp;#160; &lt;img height="16px" src="http://community.active.com/4.5.5/images/emoticons/sad.gif" width="16px"/&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;!-- [DocumentBodyEnd:5e484150-6b8f-4563-9d2a-fe4e4841a02b] --&gt;</description>

      <title>49 and fat. Want to be 50 and fit.</title>

I'm 320 lbs and I've already lost 20. I'm a big guy and at 270 I look OK, but this is ridiculous.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I've got 8 months to go until my 50th birthday, and I'm determined to look and feel better in my 50s than I did in my 40s.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;In 2011, I got serious.&amp;#160; Started at 340, did a medically supervised PSMF, started C25k, lost 70 pounds in 8 months. I was 270 for the first time in a decade, I was running 3x a week, I felt great.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Then.....marriage fell apart, and so did I.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;So 2012 was all about getting mentally fit.&amp;#160; (And getting divorced). So now I'm single, and I'm feeling good.&amp;#160; Head screwed on straight. Life going in the right direction.&amp;#160; But on Jan 21st, I stepped on the scale and saw 339.&amp;#160; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Didn't ever want to hit 340 again, so I started making small changes. Less snacking. Better food choices. Found a biking buddy, and started riding again (I used to love to ride). Walked when I couldn't ride. Lost 20 pounds.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Finally re-started c25k 3 weeks ago. w1d1 was tough.&amp;#160; Did w3d2 yesterday.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I'm not built for running - really bad knees make it difficult.&amp;#160; But it's the only way I can get in a good calorie burn in 30 minutes without actually going to the gym. So my plan is to get through c25k and then incorporate 3 mile runs 2x a week along with biking 2x a week, some Tai Chi or yoga and some calisthenics/weight training. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;2013 Goals: 270 by my 50th birthday. That's 1.5 pounds per week. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Complete C25k by July 1, and then consistently run, bike or swim 4x per week.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Life Goals: Get to 220 by my 51st birthday, and keep it under 225 for the rest of my life. BodPod measurement in 2011 told me I've got 174 lbs of lean body mass, so 220 is 21% body fat.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Be 50, fit and fabulous!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Just looking for a place to let people know where I'm at, and how I'm doing.&amp;#160; A place to ask about the pain in my knee, or other concerns.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Thanks for listening!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;!-- [DocumentBodyEnd:0cbfc2c6-1a8e-483c-a999-9ed41463a277] --&gt;</description>
