Where do you put your keys when you run

This morning I went out for my long run and had a funny thing happen. Somewhere around mile 6.15 I noticed that my shoe lace had come untied...and my car key that was

attached to it was gone. I started retracing my steps with fears of having to cover the whole route over again. Luckily the key was only a couple feet back.

I got a good laugh out of the experience, but it got me thinking. Where do other people put their car/house keys when they run?

What extraordinary benefit have you had from running?

I will start. I injured my ulnar nerve in my elbow in May. I had therapy which helped some. I did some strengthening exercises which helped also. The injured ulnar nerve caused something called cubital tunnel syndrome. I had a lot of swelling in my right hand. It was difficult to type, to drive, hold hands, pick up my daughter, and do so many other things.

I started walking in May. I noticed a couple of months later than the pain would decrease after my walks.

I started Couch25 K in September. By October the symptoms in my hand and forearm had decreased by 40%. These days any pain swelling and discomfort is minor and usually only lasts for 5 or 10 minutes.

Hooray!

Have you had any extraordinary benefits?

~Karen~

So feel free to embrace your PenguinHood and speak your mind. Get some support. Ask for help. Whatever.

The good news is that I improved my 5K time by 3 minutes. The bad news is that my knees didn't like it. I will follow the cool running 5 k training plan without the speed work for now. Stretching and ice and slowing down are helping.

Turkey Trot in Webster, NY 4.4 miles

Melissa in Rochester, NY
