Chilly 2+ hour wait from bike placement to wave start?

I'm a total newbie, first triathlon, and fall into Wave 16 (Sprint men 55+) at 9:20... if I understand correctly, my bike has to be placed in position in the bike corral before it closes at 6:45 a.m., and I won't have access to it until I come out of the water after the swim. The way I think I understand this is that once my bike is placed, if something doesn't go in the water with me, it stays at the bike, which means I'm on the beach from 6:45 or before in swim suit (not wearing a wetsuit) with no towel, no sweatshirt, no nothing but me and my goosebumps for 2 and half hours until my start. Is that right? Or can I wear sweats or something and dump them at the bike before I get in position for my water start... or do I just do jumping jacks to keep warm? Any suggestions?

Congratulations to all participants in the 9th Annual Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Triathlon presented by Herbalife. It was a spectacular day with an amazing finish at LA Live Nokia Plaza. Official results are available on our website (http://www.latriathlon.com/) and make sure to check out your Disney Concert Hall run split times (10k split times 2.5k & 7.5k; 5k split time 2.5k). Photos from ASI are now live on our website. These event photos are searchable by name or race number.

Greg Bennett won the Men's Professional race in a time of 1:46:04 and Becky Levelle won the Women's Professional race with a time of 1:59:46. Greg has now won the race 3 times with Becky not far behind with 2 wins in LA.

The inaugural Herbalife Corporate Triathlon Challenge (HCTC) was a great success! Team Moj (Michael Johnson, Juan Ramirez, & Raymond Koehler) was able to finish strong and win the inaugural cup with the time of 1:21:44. The HCTC is a new element to the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Triathlon promoting teamwork and a healthy workforce opening opportunities for colleagues to participate in a social atmosphere outside the boardroom.

We are extremely fortunate to have superb sponsors for the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Triathlon presented by Herbalife. Kaiser Permanente not only provides all of the medical support throughout the race course and finish, but also provide and host the THRIVE Health & Fitness Expo, the Finisher Medals, and were involved strategically in the production of the race. The "Thrive" mantra has become the theme we embrace as our mission for the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Triathlon presented by Herbalife. We could not ask for a better title sponsor.

The Life Time Fitness Triathlon Series has brought together the four most prestigious Olympic distance Triathlons in the United States which include Minneapolis, New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. On October 5th, we will add a championship race to the series - the Toyota U.S. Open Triathlon in Dallas. Los Angeles will be represented in the Elite Amateur Competition (a hallmark of our series) by Eric Bell, David Myers, David Valencia, Craig Pansing, Mitchell Hall, Brooke Davison, Hayley Peirsol, Courtney Brown, Sierra Snyder, and Samantha Carey. It is an individual championship but there are definitely some bets on which series race will have the best team!

Thanks to our sponsors Kaiser Permanente, Herbalife, Life Time Fitness, Arrowhead Water, Gatorade, TYR Swimming, Orbea/Shimano, Marina del Rey Marriott, Toyota, Jennie-O Turkey, Miller Genuine Draft Light 64, and the Los Angeles Athletic Club. Our supporting sponsors include Los Angeles Downtown News, Triathlete Magazine, Triathlon Lab, Moinian Group, Edge ® & Skintimate ® - Available at Target ® and Suunto.

Special thanks to "Ready, Set, Gold!" our Official Charity, Beacon House, and all of the charities and volunteers for there tremendous support of the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Triathlon presented by Herbalife.

Didn't have time to purchase any merchandise?
