Vineman Ironman 70.3 - How quickly will it sell out?

Just a quick note to let everyone know that we are now more than half full for Vineman 70.3. Last year we sold out on Jan 5. So when comparing numbers to last year in the first 4 days of registration being open, we anticipate that the race will sell out some time in mid December.

Once the race sells out we will begin a waitlist.

I lost track of things during the race weekend, but I just realized that I never heard anything about the Avia shoes for $1000 fundraisers. Anyone know what's up? Thanks.

Is there any possibility of the slideshow shown at the awards Aug 2, being posted online. It would be great if my family could see it (I was in one of the photos)?

I am sure many of you like myself are wondering about the photos for the full Vineman (Barb's and Aqua included). I heard today the photos should be available tomorrow (08/11) sometime in the afternoon (PST).

Post-race thoughts

What an amazing race! This was only my second triathlon and already I see myself coming back to the Vineman. The volunteers were amazing, race was challenging, the venue was beautiful, the competitors were friendly...there is nothing else I could've asked for. However, getting to race day prepped and ready was a bit of a challenge. So here are some warnings for future competitors.

-Finding a hotel nearby on the same weekend as lazy bear was difficult, so please book far in advance. I am left wishing the two would choose different weekends to better benefit associated participants, local businesses, and the community.

-Getting around the area can be expensive if you don't bring or rent a car. Taxis are more than double what they cost in NYC. One ride in particular cost $5 a mile!!! After that experience, I rode my bike to the race start and around town afterward. Rio Villa, where I stayed, was 4 miles from Johnson's Beach.

-Also, public transport is widely available. Do your research before you arrive. I flew into san francisco airport and arrived at Windsor high school for <$20. (Reason I flew into SFO was for post-race vacation - leaving same way)

-Food is not too expensive, but few places stay open late in Monte Rio, where Rio Villa is located.

-Finally, if you do have the means to stay an extra day or two, do it!! I can't imagine what I would do with an extra week, but visiting a vineyard, lazing down the river, and seeing the redwoods is worth it and can be done in two days. Maybe a long massage would've complemented nicely, but I rented race wheels instead : )

That's all I can think of right now. Race really is worth it!! Manageable for east-coasters too. I did it.
