What tracking device is best? Polar, Garmin, etc?

I am looking to track time, distance, hear rate, heart zone, calories, etc. I mostly run outdoors, but also lift weights and do cardio indoors. Any suggestions? What you like, don't like?

I wondering if anyone can suggest a good pair of sneakers for a person who's feet supine (recent foot scan showed this to be an issue)? I am a new runner and my left hip, knee and ankle are not impressed. Thanks.

A watch for all sports

I'm looking for a pedometer to tell me how many miles when I run. But I want an all purpose fitness watch for running, swimming, hiking and other sports. I don't know what needs I have for other sports yet but I want to buy one that will give me the most for the buck. If you have to pick one, what do you recommend?

What is your favorite piece of gear?

Mine happens to be a Jetboil stove because it feeds me fast after a long day on the trail. Its user friendly, light, compact, and easy to clean.

which hydration belt is best for a marathon trainer?

Hi all, I'm training for a marathon and on my last run I got very thirsty and had to run into the library to get some water. I realize now I need to invest in a hydration belt (with a pouch for my phone, id and cash). There are some that have 4 bottles and others that have 2... does anyone have an opinion on these? Any helpful hints for wearing it too? I want to make sure I am ready for this weekend's 6 mile for a test-run with this belt.

Which map software to download to GPS?

Hi All,

We're visiting from the UK and spending 6 mths in the USA.

In the UK we use a Garmin GPS 60csx and a laptop with UK Ordnance Survey maps to download / upload routes and tracks to the GPS.

Can anyone recommend a mapping system for us to use whilst in the USA?

How Do You Beat the Bug Bites?

Does anyone have a good recommendation for bug repellent? I just got back from a trip to Cancun, Mexico and left with one too many mosquito bites. Can we say ITCHY!

I used Cutter Mosquito Wipes during the trip. I've used them in the past during camping trips to Yosemite and trips to the Philippines and Florida, where the humidity is intense and the mosquitoes outnumber people. The wipes worked great then, but not so much this time around.

I'm looking for a 2-in-1 product if possible; something that has both repellent and SPF. I believe Cutter has a product like this too, but it was too sticky/greasy for me.

I'm also not sure if using one product decreases the effect of the other. On this trip, I would cover up with sunscreen first and bug repellent second. I didn't get burned, but got bitten.

Any advice would be great for my next trip outdoors.
