Hey, I need some help. I was just told by my Doc that I have burcitus in my left hip. I started running 4 months ago and then some light weight training and all was good until, BANG, my hip had this excruciating pain. It started about two weeks ago. And its not that I run that much. Me and some friends run about 3 times a week, 2-3 miles. We have run 3 5k's and I am enjoying the side affects of weight loss, about 14 pounds and just plain 'ole feeling better. Now I was told to stay off it. And I have tried to even just walk a steady pace and it is way too painful. Anyone with any suggestions. I don't want to gain the weight back and we have 1 more run before the good 'ole Iowa winter sets in. It is in 2 weeks and is only 2 miles and I really want to do it. Just some info..........I am 5 7 and 145 lbs. Does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks

Where do you put your keys when you run

This morning I went out for my long run and had a funny thing happen. Somewhere around mile 6.15 I noticed that my shoe lace had come untied...and my car key that was

attached to it was gone. I started retracing my steps with fears of having to cover the whole route over again. Luckily the key was only a couple feet back.

I got a good laugh out of the experience, but it got me thinking. Where do other people put their car/house keys when they run?

Slowing Down

Sorry if this is a redundant question but I can't seem to find the answer. I have recently moved to OH where they have something called WINTER. It is not something I have really experienced before. To give you a clue the last few years running outside in Dec-Feb I would put on a t-shirt and shorts to running in the cold 65 deg weather. I have taken everybody's advice and gotten the compression shirt and pants. So this morning with it 29 deg outside I didn't really feel the cold. I'm sure I'll add more layers later but for now I seem ok.

My questions is I am getting slower and slower even though I am still doing all my runs and speed work-outs. Is this normal? I think I remember reading an article a few months ago about this but I can't seem to find it again. I think it basically said for every 10 deg colder; add 1 min per mile. I might just also be confused with something else.

Another question is I want to compleate a HM next Sept. I currently have a base of 9-10 mi on my long run. I was thinking for the winter I would keep the 9-10 miles for long runs and work more on my speed for 5k and 10k. Then once spring comes around add the milage. Is this realistic, or should I just concentrate on surviving the runs this first winter.

Thanks for all tips and advice!

If you can’t speak for yourself, Road ID will speak for you.
2. Road ID enables First Responders to immediately contact family members and friends.
3. Road ID enables family members to provide additional details about your health or give consent for potentially life saving procedures.
4. Road ID enables hospital staff to locate vital medical records.
5. Road ID can communicate medical conditions or allergy information to medical staff.
6. Road ID can prevent serious delays in treatment by saving crucial time during the “golden hour” of medical treatment.
7. It’s far better to have Road ID and not need it than to need Road ID and not have it. It’s not just a piece of gear, it’s peace of mind.
8. Accidents happen far more than you think they do. Each year approximately 450,000 of us are taken to hospitals unconscious and without identification.
9. Road ID looks good on and makes a statement about your athletic lifestyle – not to mention that studies would probably prove that people that wear Road ID are considerably smarter than those that don’t.
10. Road ID can save your Life. Period.
