The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) is excited to announce the 2009-2010 National Fastpitch Coaches College (NFCC) schedule!

The NFCC is a unique opportunity for coaches of all levels (high school, travel ball, and college) to improve their knowledge and skill surrounding the sport of softball. Participants will receive one-on-one interaction with some of the best instructors in the game today, along with an in-depth manual of course content.

Fall 2009 Responsible Sports Grants For Softball Teams Available

Liberty Mutual is giving away $50,000 this fall to youth sports organizations through their Responsible Sports Community Grant Program. Twenty (20) organizations will each earn $2,500 for demonstrating their commitment to responsibility in youth sports. It's easy -- Just get as many parents, coaches and fans of your team, club, or league as you can to take the Responsible Sports courses and quizzes. Each passed quiz earns your youth softball organization a point - and the organizations with the most points win!

Don't think that just because you're small, you can't win -- because organizations only compete with those of similar sizes. Large organizations, small organizations, and schools will all have their own winners of $2,500 grants.

I used to play softball and fastpitch from age 8 to 17. Now I'm 26 and pretty overweight and kind of out of shape. I want to start to train to get back in shape and get involved next spring in a league. I have no idea how to get started and without endless funds. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do specifically to start getting myself in good enough shape to play again? The only idea I have is to frequent the batting cages...Other than that....?

Any ideas would be great

New 12U Select Fastpitch Team: WA REGULATORS

Hello,

I am starting a new 12U fastpitch team in snohomish county in Washington, around the Lynnwood area. It will be headed by two previous players trained by Western Head Coach, Lonnie Hicks, for ten plus years; and a coach that has been coaching select softball for fifteen years. Having women coaches that know the game will be helpful to girls just entering the select fastpitch community. We will be holding tryouts on request, please email or call me with any questions. We are looking for girls with different skill levels at different positions, so that we can develop their raw talent and let them shine.

Good or Bad Etiquette?

My company is putting on a Tournament...and I get hundreds of e-mail from people wanting to know who is in the tournament...honesty with everything we have going on ...I don't have time to sit all day and answer these emails...some are even from the same coaches just wanting an update...I do not want to be rude but do we really need to provide that information on a continuous basis? ...I don't mind letting everyone know how many teams they will be playing when all registrations are in...but to receive an abundance of emails...any help would be appreciated ...THANK YOU.

Average Softball Pitching Speed

I used to play softball as a kid, but haven't played or seen it played on a competitive level in years. I am curious to see how fast a decent pitcher can pitch the ball? Also, how much does pitch speed change from high school to college?

Hello i have a 10 year old daughter starting to play competitive softball and i want to get her a good softball bat. What do you guys think i should go with,

i've seen several bats but not sure what to look for, maybe i can get some suggestions as to which bat i should go with. Any help would be great!!! Thanks in advance...

I am 13yrs old i played on a pretty decent softball team in blountstown, florida untill.....it was a thursday in port st. joe (where we were playing) it was our very first game of the season and we had 12 more games to go it was going okay we were having fun and enjoying ourselfs out there on the field, i played left field before the game i told coach i get alil unpatient, our pitcher (Genny) pitched the ball several times and they all appeared to end up in center field so, on the next pitch it didnt do anything different the ball went to center field and off NINJa (me) went i was in the zone and was ready for action untill a shocking thing happened i was running and so was my center field teammate (amber) about 5 secounds later BAM! me n her collided togeher on the field every1 stood there waiting for me to get up (im a tough girl, i harley ever cry) sadly i didnt, 10 minutes later i was in an ambulence on my way to bay medical in panama city bout 45 minutes away, my friend got released with no injuries but sadly i had to stay i got an x-ray to see if my knee was broke the good news is it wasnt i got released an hour later with crutches and a knee mobilizer.....2 weeks later i went for an mri, the Mri dude called my mom to the scene as he showed her the shocking image of my knee (my mom is a nurse at bay) i had jammed my knee cap upwards my acl is slightly torn my patella is dislocated (under my knee cap) also under my knee cap there is cartilage and fluid (blood). i count on sports to get me through all the emotional pain but now i have to deal with the pain for 1yr i dont know what to do. my team gave up when i got hurt my coach folded the team i was the joy and pride of my team and i feel like i let them down. im so srry guys....what team!, tigers..what team!, tigers...can i get a whoo-ha...please i wonna make it up to them is there any college softball team (i love the florida state seminoles) nearby panama city, fl that would like to help me make it up and wouldnt mind comeing to talk or even play alil game with my team....blountstown tigers they will be reckonized.
