      <title>Help needed! How to correct and improve the breaststroke for a young swimmer?</title>

He had been a very good breaststroker within his age group. Since last year, he suddenly improved on every other strokes, such as freestyle, back&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;even fly, but his breaststroke had been falling apart, his coach said he had wrong arm-leg timing, and his stroke looked odd, not smooth anymore. Since then, he could not improve the breaststroke events but&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;add time. He was very frustrated, so we are seeking help. He has consulted innumerable swim instructors and swim coaches, trained his brains out, yet he still DNF'd the swimming a full Ironman. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I met him in the pool.&amp;nbsp; He cannot float. On his Back or his front he sinks straight to the bottom of the pool each time he tries to float. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I announced that this was his problem. Period. Stop swimming (oddly his stroke/form is strong)and suggested he start from the begining and learn how to swim".&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Am I correct or just wrong. Warm up on the first two. Start with 200 yards. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Coach's Notes:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;After the first swim, you go again on 3 minutes, then on 2:55, 2:50, 2:40, etc. down to 30 seconds. Continue to swim the distance you start with until you come in with less than 10 seconds rest, then drop 25 or 50 yards. Stay on the timed interval.
