I love trail mix, dried fruit, and any mixed nuts but they are all pretty expensive unless on sale. I started out on the bike using the Infinite drink, but I am only able to carry enough for about the first three hours. After that, I used Power Gels and Gatorade Endurance for the final couple of hours. I have trained with these gels in the past and have had no problems. But, during the race, when I started to take in the gels, I couldn't keep the gels down and I kept spitting up the gels. This happened the remaining part of my ride. When I started the run, I had a fuel belt with the Infinite that would last me for an hour. I felt good for this first hour, but again once I switched over to the gels for the remaining part of the race I would start spitting up what ever I tried to digest. At first I was taking in just gels, but I had to switch to bananas, but I had the same problem. Have anyone ever heard of an issue like this? Like I said, I have trained with both the Power Gels and the Infite and have not had an issue. I have had this happen to me before at a race in FL that was extremely humid, so I just attributed it at the time to the extreme heat. I'm running 45 min to an hour instead of my 30-minute runs. I'm exercising 5-6 days a week instead of 4. But I'm more hungry now than ever! So I eat more. All things healthy. But I've gained a couple more pounds instead of losing. However, recently I decedied that it would be fun to start running in some of the local 5ks agian. When I started doing some of my harder workouts I got really sore and it just didn't seem like I recovered as fast as a used to. So, I started taking some whey protein by us-spot after my hard workouts and it has really helped me recover better. I'm afraid that I am not eating the right foods, the right amount at the right time, etc. I have always had a problem with food... though was only anorexic about a year in college. My problem is probably mental haha but still a problem. I exercise 6 days a week, and always in the evening after work. I'd prefer to workout in the mornings before work but it is physically impossible for me. I feel completely drained every morning. I have attempted to "suck it up" and "power through" but it ends up being a very sub par workout. I almost always end up workout out again in the evening to make up for it. My issue seems to be with food. On the days that I don't follow the above stated rules, I actually feel pretty good in the morning. However, this means I overate on carbohydrates big-time the night before. I'm talking spaghetti and meatballs at 9pm or something similiar. I know I'm not going to lose weight this way...but it's certainly no fun feeling so awful EVERY morning. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I have been doing a strength and conditioning program for the past three months along with running 2-3 days a week. My workouts are shifting gears come June 1st as I am preparing for two triathlons this summer.
