The Vibram Five Fingers sole technology started out as extensive research and design project. When Vibram approached shoe manufactures about incorporating this revolutionary barefoot rubber sole into their products it fell upon deaf ears. So Vibram set out to build and sell the Five Finger shoes all by themselves.

Get to know more about Vibram Five Fingers.

Is Barefoot Running Dangerous? Or It Can Actually Help Avoid Running Injuries?

For many runners, up until recently, choosing the correct footwear would be essential to their training. This does not mean, however, that today’s athletes in training have taken to wearing any old shoe whilst jogging or sprinting; rather many have eschewed footwear altogether and taken up barefoot running. Proponents of this technique have stated it is the way that humans are meant to run and, as such, this style is much healthier and more beneficial for them. Yet, the question remains, is there any truth to this? Or, as the naysayers state, can barefoot running actually cause harm and injury to its practitioners? >>> Read more

How To Pick The Right Trainers For You

If you pick up Runners Weekly, or any other fitness magazine of its ilk, you’ll be bombarded with a plethora of high-tech looking trainersthat have very possibly been beamed from the near-future, or a least a distant planet where people are able to talk about their foot pronation with complete confidence. However, once you get to grips with the lingo, you’ll find that it’s actually quite easy to work out what kind of shoe will support your foot and get you dashing about like a whippet who fears neither the reaper nor shin splints. Where other methods focus heavily on technique, Kinetic Revolution believe that the combination of Running Technique Development and muscle activation through Running Specific Strength Training is the most effective way to see powerful results quickly. Kinetic Revolution Method uniquely combines running technique coaching with exercises and drills to improve running related strength and stability. This combination has an incredibly potent effect of reducing the risk of running injuries, stopping recurring injuries from coming back and developing improved running efficiency. This is a 55mi schedule based on Pfizinger's schemes

After the marathon I have a 10k on April 22 (http://www.spierenvoorspierencityrun.nl/) and 13 days between both races to train.

I plan to end the season after the 10K race and take 2 full months of rest.

I would like some suggestions on what type of training to fill in these weeks:

What would be better? VO2max intervals ? Strides ? 10k time trials ? And if so, how many ?

Thank you very much for your suggestions !!!

No hills to run for "hilly workouts?"

I'm in a bit of a quandry here... virtually ALL training plans incorporate "hilly workouts" into them. The 10k plan offered here does as well. I live in South Florida and there are NO hills to be found. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to modify the workouts for this situation? I am a fairly new runner, so please pardon my ignorance! Thanks in advance for all help!
