Shin/Calf Sleeves

Hi, I've been jogging/running for years now, however a little over a year ago I ran into back problems (bulging discs) so I pretty much stopped running all together for an extended period of time. Over the past 6 months I've began slowly running again and over the past month I've taken it up a notch. Normally I'd run about 3 miles at a time, but over the last month I've gone from, 4 to 5 to 6 miles pretty quickly. I've actaully ran 5 miles twice then ran 6 last Sunday. I didn't notice any pain Sunday other then normal soreness but over the past few days my shins are hurting. I'm guessing this is a result of running too hard too quickly and because I overpronate and have back problems. I dont believe my shoes are the problem because I just bought a pair of Nike Eclipse which my local running store recommended after seeing my over-pronation. My question is other then taking it slowly after resting should I start running with calf sleeves? Like a CEP sleeve, Zensah or Alive Power Calf or something? I'm just not sure if this is going to be a oncurring problem because of my issues (pronation/back) and because I have had achilles tendonitis in the past as well. Any suggestions? I'd appreciate any help!

Casual Shoes for every day use WITH SUPPORT?

This is my first post! I am having issues with an unidentified leg injury. After my first half marathon I fractured my leg, took time off to heal, ran 2more half marathons and then fractured the same leg during my training to a 4th half marathon. Since then Ive rested, healed and work with a physical therapiston a weekly bases. My PT has changed my gait, has me on a strength and stretching program and has me running in shoes with more support as I pronate a bit. Despite all this, pain is starting to creep back into my trouble spot.

An additional thing he wanted me to do was change my every day shoes. I usually wear converse as my every day, casual shoe. My physical therapist has band me from wearing converse and ordered me to buy casual shoes with more support. I am a 27 year old male. Does anyone have any suggestions on stylish casual shoes that still offer enough support?

Thanks!

Trying to Get Healthy: Running or Walking?

Came across this article about walking vs. running today. Thoughts?

– Past studies have shown that walking andrunning provide almost the same reductions in hypertension and depressivesymptoms. However a very large, recent American study has released a similarconclusion, and includes coronary heart disease on the list. However, thatstudy actually favors running as the better activity.

To summarize the findings, "those howchoose running achieved more than twice the exercise doses as those who choosewalking, and given the strong dose-response relationship, higher exercise dosesand lower risk factors, promoting more vigorous exercise, are likely to producegreater health benefits," the researchers wrote. Most people run at least twice as fast as they walk, which means theamount of energy expelled during running is double that of walking.

Regardless of which exercise chosen, having theright clothing makes the exercise more comfortable and enjoyable.
