Mom to 2 babies - tips on finding the time to train

I've done 2 sprint distance triathlons but now that I'm a mom to an 18 month old and a 3 month old I'm completely out of shape. I'm about 35 lbs heavier than I was when I got pregnant with my 18 month old. I haven't worked out in at least 2 years and I really know that planning to do another tri will help motivate me.

My question is - are there any other busy mom's out there? Any tips on finding the time and the energy to train? Is it possible to really get in shape without going to the gym? I live in AZ where it's over 100 degrees all summer, so training outdoors is out of the question and the closest gym is too far for me to realistically go to. I have a nice treadmill at home and I plan to start on that. I also would like to invest in some weights and I'll just have to try to fit the bike in on the weekend mornings when my husband is home and can watch the kids. Any suggestions or tips would be great! I really want to do this and just don't know where to get started.

Thanks.

Jill

Okay everyone, what is an acceptable level of pain during training? I'm cross training for another half marathon and ran at my race pace for the first time six days ago. I was really uncomfortable for three or four days, didn't run but walked and swam.

My daugther is just over 2 years old now and we recently visited MyGym (photo below) and we love it. It's more 'activity' based and I think it will really start to instill an appreciation of healthy activities.

Do you have any other recommendations for good programs for parents and kids to do together?

Thanks!

Knee Pain---what is it? fastest recovery?

I am returning to running after about a 6 month break (pregnant and had #4). I started a week ago after my Dr gave the all clear, started w/ 3 mile loops, relatively flat. I was doing a 4:1 run:walk pattern and finishing the last 8 minutes w/o the walk break. Anyway on my last run, the lower inside front of my knee (not my kneecap, but right next to it, low and to the inside) started to hurt everytime that leg hit the ground. I finished the run and took 2 days off. Today is the third day and my knee felt much better so I headed out, literally on the first step w/ that leg, the knee hurt again--a lot. I walked a little and tried again, I ran about 1/4 mile, grimacing with each step. It didn't seem to improve at all so I gave up and hobbled home. Now the knee and most of that leg just aches, even while I'm sitting. So my question is, what type of injury is this? Something I can take Motrin and run through or do I need to be off the leg? I don't want to injure the knee seriously but I am really bummed and disappointed at being stuck inside again. And tips on how to recover quickly would be greatly appreciated!
