I've been training using the Galloway run/walk method. Run 4 minutes/walk one. So far so good but sometimes I feel like I'm cheating by not running the entire time. Anybody else prescribe to the Galloway method?

First 5K IN YEARS

I have done very little running since 2003 due to ITB issue after a marathon. In june my 15 y/o started training for XC. So I broke out the shoes. I have been taking it easy doing 3 to 4 miles 3 days a week. Also we train at 630 am lot cooler down south Alabama lol. Well his coach told him the team need to run local 5k Friday afternoon so off we go. 94F at the start and a lot of hills later .I turn a 27:40 . I was happy with that I beat all but 4 of the XC team. Now I need to try to shave some time off. So is intervals the way to go. Also is this a far time for a almost 40 y/o just a few months. I think the heat hurt us all. The fastest time was 21 by one of our kids.

On the bad side very tight ITB lastnight but feels much better today.

A one minute trial will take you to the top of the list of health, fitness and sports experts

Run four steps forward and notice that you drop your feet behind to speed up and reach a level pace. Running cannot be done another way so it is the first irrefutable and observable science in health, fitness and sports. You can now let gravity do all the work of moving you forward to walk, jog, run and sprint. A sprinter goes through all four speed labels to reach top speed. The four speed labels are the same self transport movement at a variety of speeds. Walking can be seen as running slowly and sprinting can be seen as running very fast. I did my first run after the time off on Friday…an easy 6 miler, and it seemed really hard to run a 9:45 pace (normal pace for this run is about 9:15). Based on other experiences with brief sabbaticals from training, I know after a couple of training days, I’ll be back to normal and feeling good. What is the physiology at work here? I can’t have lost that much fitness in 14 days…and if I did, why would I get everything back so quickly? I suspect my age has something to do with this…I’m 63.
