After running the Boston Marathon in April, I took a week off from running, and am now focusing on cross training and fewer miles. I need to get faster before my next marathon. My time in Boston wasn't as good, considering the shape I was in last March (I ran a 3:14 and I felt like I was in 2:55 shape). Boston was a great experience, though, but I just didn't have it from the gun. My only good mile was going through Welesley.

I have run in two 5K's since Boston (Coyote Challenge in San Bernardino and Fontana Days), and set a new PR (17:43) in Fontana. I would have come in 1st in my age group, but I started the race late. I settled for a 2nd place medal. The race was supposed to start at 7:45, someone told me it was changed to 8:15, but it ended up starting at 8:02. I was continuing my warm-up when I heard the gun. It was kind of fun passing everyone, but I won't make that mistake again--live and learn.

In the next month I have 3 more 5K's. One is in my home town, Spring Valley Lake, Victorville (it's called the River Walk because it trails along the Mojave River). I am also running in Huntington Beach on the 4th of July. I'm also going to try to get in to the 5K on July 12th in San Jose. Maybe I'll see some of you there.

If you are ever up my way, call or text me. The High Desert is a great place to run-- fresh air, clear skies, and beautiful mountain trails. (760-221-1572).

Good luck to everyone!

Hey everyone. My name's Jennifer Hampson & I'm new to the team. My next event is in less than 2 weeks... the 2009 California AIDS Ride. This will be my 4th experience w/ AIDS Ride & it's a life changing experience each & every time. We will be cycling 545 miles from San Francisco to L.A. to raise funds & awareness for the cause.

A) Is anyone else doing this event?, and B) Does anybody know someone who may be interested in hosting a house guest for one night in L.A. (on 6/6) before I fly home? I would prefer not to have to get a hotel room if I can avoid it. We finish in the Brentwood area. I'm a low-maintenance guest & love meeting new people.

Thanks!!

Hi Everyone!

My name is Monica Zaragoza.  I am very excited to be a part of the team.  I finished the Palos Verdes Half Marathon.  I am training for the Seattle Marathon in June and a few 5k's and 10k's in between.

I am located in Glendale if anyone is near my area.  I usually train in my area or I go to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

Welcome to everyone!

Monica
