How to resize your pictures

Posted by Tanya_McCarty on Dec 30, 2008 9:43:00 AM

Hey guys!!!  Following up on our discussion last night, if you are running Windows XP as your operating system, do the following:

1) Go to this Microsoft website: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys/Xppowertoys.mspx

2) Down the right hand side there are a list of downloadable PowerToys.  Choose the one named "Image Resizer."  Download it.

3)  Once it is downloaded, you simply go to My Pictures, or where ever you have your pictures stored, and right click on a picture.  You will still get the usual Right-Click menu, but there will be an added option "Resize Picture."

4) Choose Resize Picture, and you will get an additional window asking what size you want to resize it too.  I usually choose Small or Medium.  It will create a copy of the picture with (small) appended to the name in the same folder as the original picture.  Now the number of bytes that copy takes up will be much less, and you will be able to add them to web pages or send via email with ease.

You can also hold down your Ctrl or Shift key while choosing pictures to create a group of pictures so that when you right click and choose to Resize, it will do them all at the same time.

Thanks Tanya, I didn't see this earlier when I wrote a comment on the other blog.  I will try it out now.
