Why am I receiving an "Invalid Account Number" message when trying to submit my payment?

An "Invalid Account Number"

message signifies that there was an error in the format of the credit card

number entered.  Please verify that no spaces and/or dashes have been entered

and that there are no transposed CC digits within the inputted number.
