I was on the east coast for July 4th and had a blast. I'm finally running again as the ITBS is totally gone! The hard work and dedication to rehab always pays off, no matter how tough it is.So I'm totally stoked to be back and feeling really good ramping up my miles, slowly and steadily.
For my birthday this year I did a big climb in Idyllwild, CA so check out my video below and read my blog about the ascent for more details.
This weekend I'm racing the Surf Moneky King Monkey competition in Oceanside, CA which consists of a 5K run, 1-mile ocean swim and a 6-mile SUP race! So stoked! Check out more info on that and check back here next week for results!
Thursday is my final PT appointment for my ITBS. I've had a couple great runs lately and I'm getting super excited things are going smoothly!
I'm so ready to start building my base back. This is too much for me right now, but Build Your Base in 2 Weeks is what I'd like to build back up to soon!
I've maintained my fitness through all the cross training I do, but starting back into running at a higher weight than usual makes my muscles sore. Using Compex after these shorter runs I'm doing right now is really helpful because I'm bouncing back so I'm ready for my next session.
Got a huge dose of inspiration Monday night at the screening of Ride The Divide. Check it out:
This was my third time on a SUP and I gave it my "all" for an hour and 20 minutes until I crossed the finish line. I rented a Laird 12'1" from Aqua Adventures. Next time I'll use a shorter board because I got smoked by most of the folks on 10-foot boards.
The weekend was great!! Went stand up paddle boarding (SUP) and loved it
I wore my Garmin 310xt and we covered 2.2 miles in an hour at a casual pace. So I've reserved my board for the Bay 2 Bay Rowing Regatta on 6/12. I'm going to race the 5-mile event in the open SUP category.
Here's a little video I put together from Saturday (see the Compex visor!).
Heading to Lake Mead tonight for the long weekend. I definitely plan to us my Compex during the drive. Have a great weekend everyone!
Went on a great MTB Saturday with a big group of bada$$ multi-sport athletes. We cruised it nice and easy and had a blast!
29.6 miles in 2:47
Then on Sunday I hit the treadmill to test out the progress I've been making with Physical Therapy. My legs were a bit tired from the ride on Saturday but it felt really good to run. I warmed up with 5 minutes of walking, ran for 20 minutes and then cooled down with another 5 minutes of walking. My IT band felt really good until about 18 minutes in... glad I shut it down then. I'm going to chat with my PT tomorrow to see if I can start running every other day for the same amount of time.. I'll keep you posted.
Hitting the Compex all day today and my legs are coming back to life already!
My first week with the Compex and I like it. Just getting used to some of the settings and placements. I haven't gone too crazy with it yet.
I've beening hitting the trails on the MTB and have been consistent at PT for my ITB. I can definetely feel progress being made. Got the "OK" to try running this weekend! 15-20 minutes on the treadmill.
I'm so stoked
Rehabilitating an injury, like training for an event, takes hard work and dedication. Here's a little inspiration for the weekend!
I'm so stoked to be a part of Team Compex. It's been a tough year for me so far.
Long story short, I finished last season able to run 100 miles in less than 22 hours without any sort of aches or pains. After an injury this season, I cannot run for 20 minutes without pain.
I'm excited to share my journey back to running here in this blog while incorporating the Compex Sport Elite device in my therapy. Although my season will be focused on rehabilitation, I will also be racing mountain bikes throughout Southern California and getting into a number of adventures along the way.
Following and supporting the other athletes here on the team blog will be fun and an excellent source of inspiration. I wish you all the best!
