8.6 miles this morning! My longest run ever. It was an easy, very pleasant run. Perfect weather, in the 70's with a nice breeze. My goal for today was 7, but I felt energized so I pushed myself further. When I saw 8.6, I was beside myself with glee. Felt amazing!

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Planned to run 8 today.  Started with 2 friends and we talked and started slow for the first mile.  Friend #1 was cramping and had to stop and stretch but told us to run on.

Ran to 3 with friend #2 - but wanted to make sure friend #1 knew her way so I turned back and let friend #2 run on.

Caught up with friend #1 she said she was good to go - so I turned back and ran up to the 4 mile mark (added an extra .5 for turning back)

Then ran back.  So 8.52 miles was my grand total for today.

CONFUSED?? Yeah me too hahaha.  It was a crazy run -but felt good!  My overall pace was 9:24 which was freakin awesome for me!!  If it wasnt for the first two slower miles I could have shaved off a few more seconds!!  But still not trying to get my hopes up for the half...  I've never run long distances in the mountains and soooooo nervous about the hills.  I'm ok with 100 foot hills - but these are 200 foot hills.  Too many extra feet hehehe.

Last long run before the half next weekend.  I'm going to do 2 - 3 mile runs this week and then done till Sat.  SOOOOOOOOOOOO excited for the half!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Literally did nothing for 2 weeks. Ran 3.36 miles yesterday and ran in a 10k today. I didn't have a time goal. I just wanted to finish. I did ok, finished around 1:13:00. Lots of hills and temps reaching a high of 95 today. It was about 80+ during the race. I also bought a nathan's water bottle the day before. So glad I did.

Did 3miles today. It was nothing special, but I was the first time in four days since I had been out. Planning on hitting a long 5 mile up hill course tomorrow with a friend. I always find running with someone much more encouraging than running by myself. Due to my schedule, it doesn't happen often, but I enjoy it when it does. Happy running y'all!

...tentative.  I ran an easy 3.5 miles in my Vibrams (chip and seal road - viscious on bare feet!) on Satrday morning.  It was my first run since getting a nasty cold in my chest.  I'm still hacking up wads of congestion but feel well enough, if not quite strong yet.  I hoped to run again  today, Memoria lDay, but between kids, some intense gardening, and the temp going up to 92 or so, I'm bagging it until manana.

I'm glad to read about ll you out there having good runs.  It keeps my spirits up!  Keep running well, my friends!

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

    Pretty bad, really.

I started out to do a 10 mile loop. I totally ran out of gas at 5 miles. 5.62 miles, Splits were 9:37, 9:39, 10:09, 10:18, 9:44. The last .62 miles was 14.23.

It was fairly hot. I stopped to drink some water, couldn't get going again. Walked for half a mile, but was still unable to start running. Quit at 5.62 miles and walked back to the car.

I need to learn how to run in the heat.

@Navre-bad days are so disheartening. Maybe next time will be better.

I ran an easy 4 miler today, easing back in from my long run on Saturday. I am learning that taking a day off from running after my long run and then just doing an easy run the first day back out works for me. The only thing is today my ponytail holder broke a little less than midway through. I kept running for about a mile looking at the ground for something! Oh well, I gave up and decided to just go with it. I felt ridiculous, like I was trying to be a supermodel running for a photo shoot or something. LOL When I had that thought I just laughed and thought 'Oh well'.

HAHHAHHAAHAH omg sorry to laugh - but those last 2 lines killed me!!!  My hair is medium length but FULL and I'm paranoid one of my pony tail holders will break on me so I always wear 2!!  I know that's probably overkill... but it's a habit now.  I'd feel pretty silly too running with my hair down just because I'm not used to it - but I see women do it all the time!!

I'm getting the Brazilian Keratin treatment done that makes your hair super flat and I joke that I'm going for a run afterwards to see if it really stays flat  hehee.

Too funny!  Glad you had an easy 4 miles though!!

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

My hat is off to all of you who run in heat and humidity, and in the city!  I don't know how you do it.

My family took a brief trip to Washington, DC over the long weekend, and I ran twice.  Both times, it was at least 80 degrees and 90%+ humidity by 8am.  It was brutal for this fair-weather newbie, who is used to running in temps between 50 and 65 degrees, even on a sunny mid-day.  (Our average high temp in July is 68 degrees.  Not average temp--average HIGH.)  I ended up quitting early and walking part of the route, drenched in sweat.  Of course, I then spent the entire day on my feet standing and walking around all the museums.

If it hadn't been for the heat, though, it would have been awesome.  I walked from our hotel, then ran along the Ellipse, along the ponds past the Vietnam memorial, up and down the steps of the Lincoln memorial, past construction on the reflecting pool (no pool there currently) past the Washington monument to the rest of the mall and back along the Ellipse.  One day, I will run that loop, adding the Jefferson Memorial, during cherry blossom time.  I think that would be incredibly beautiful!

I may not be good, but I'm slow!

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

My last run was a boring hour on the treadmill.  By the time I'm ready to run this afternoon, it will be at least 100 here in Phoenix.  Its kind of cloudy and a little breezy and I'm feeling inspired by the post about someone running in their VFF.  Maybe I'll try to hit the pavement this afternoon if its not too bad after work.  I think I've only got a 50 minute run planned for today.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

101 degrees and slow!  We actually broke our record high yesterday and of course I was out running in it.  Made sure to hydrate really well, but I could definitely tell the heat slowed me down!  I'm running a 2 mile race tomorrow at 5 PM though...I'm kind of hoping the fact that I'll be somewhat used to running in the heat will help me out lol!

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Thanks it'll be my first race, so I thought just starting out with a 2 miler would be good (and it's benefiting the MS storm victims!).  Unfortunately when I agreed to do it, I didn't realize we would be in such a heat wave!  It is Mississippi though, so I doubt it will be getting any cooler until September or October ha!

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Wednesday night was all tornadoey (is that a word?) around here, so I ran on the track at the gym. The AC was broken and the track is in the 4th floor, so it was about 90 degrees up there. Got 6.22 miles done in 1:02:22.

Thursday night I ran my first 5k race. I wasn't really sure how to pace myself because I usually run further. I finished in 25:08, which I was happy with, especially considering the wind we were running into.

Great run Navre. 25:08 is a great time for your first race and especially for running into the wind.  Im gonna have the same problem managing tomorrows race. Right now Im training for long distance running so Im not sure what pace I should run for the 5k without burning out. I guess Ill go out of the gate as fast as I can then turn it down if I need to.

    Congrats on your 5k!!
