Hey Nita, sounds like you are doing great, congrats!  I have been thinking about joining one of those mid week running groups also even tho I know I will always be last.  I'm gonna find one that does an "out and back" course; that way I can walk/run part way and then turn around and beat all those non-penguins back.  I will be able to go as far and as fast as I want and I will be with the group at least twice (at the beginning and at the end).

WDW Princess Marathon Weekend 5k fun run (untimed but approx 59 minutes), walked with Katie

Beach 2 Beach 5k, Marblehead MA May 14 - Walked with Katie. 50:43.8, pace 16:22 (BIG hill)

Deer Dash 5k, New Market MD May 21 - Walked with 6 short run segments and HUGE hills. 54:00, pace 17:20

Save the Trail 5k, Bethesda MD May 28 - Walked with a few short run segments, flat but HOT.

    Kodie,

You are my hero. I am 59 years old, did a fast walk 1/2 marathon in January, and still can't run a mile. So be really proud of yourself. I am jealous in a good for you mode.

So keep on trucking and be happy.

Thanks, Tink. About the running group. They do out and back so that's not a problem. This group actually meets twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays. I really love running with my dog so I'll just skip the Wednesdays, run with my dog, and attend the Saturday meets where my pace coach will be present and the whole regular group will attend.

Welcome to the new penguins. I've lost track, sorry. This is a friendly place.

Waddle on! (to steal a phrase from the head penguin, John Bingham)

Welcome KeptW - love your post here - and soldiering right beside you.  Love to be near those Aces runs, but I just have to stop at the HM level - that is the goal right now.   Marathon just sounds like running to the moon and back.    This post is amazing in the way it bolsters one up to get out there and choose to move no matter what.  Lots of victory stories every day and always good tips/advice too.   Glad you are here  - plodding forward at any pace time for me = victory

Re: Calling all Penguins (slow runners)

Welcome Harmonie - swimming - now that is very tough in my mind.  I need to learn how to actually swim properly versus the dog paddle, ploggle flapping the water as I desperately try to keep from gasping for air - it is not pretty, but have been told my style is very inefficient - therefore I am getting a tremendous workout......if not an attempt at self drowning.

I admire the swimmers - that paired with the jogging and you are going to be one of those snails that sails!!!

Welcom TeveT - love that bootie list concept!   I love that self disciline to get the life goals knocked off before kids come - speaks of your desire to just be devoted to the kid gig when that day arrives - love that - thanks!   Looking forward from the back of the pack as well

Ok, I just had to share as this made me laugh tonight.  You know how whenever you are somewhere with a photographer hanging around, they manage to photograph you with food in your mouth?  You are at a wedding reception and they capture you with a mouth full of cake.  Family reunion - mouth full of potato salad.  It never fails, right?

The professional photos from my half marathon are up.  They shot a very nice series of four pictures of me about 1 hour into the race . . . eating a Gu.

On the Aces, I am only going to sign up for the 5Ks and I will be walking those at best.  Valerie is the one doing them ALL

I've been lurking here for a couple months, reading and learning;  finally got the courage to open my mouth.  Might be hard to shut me up once I get started.  LOL.

Well - glad you are speaking up - you keep information to yourself and might be shorting a learning experience or a great laugh from all of us!!    I still walk throughout the 5k distance - the heat is on now and really tough to not walk.  I put a hole in my heel last week by being dense and changing shoes - the hole is slowly healing, so I have been just walking in my flip flops......prolly not a great idea, but putting one foot in front of the other ------
