    Re: From C25k to B210k

Successful indeed.  My last 3 runs have been great.  Two more runs to go and I will be a C25K graduate also.  Right behind you Bayley.  Hey, you posted this under 10K.  Does that mean we are not Newbie's anymore?  Woo Hoo!!!!

Denise, Marcy, and Laura, hope you find us soon and looking forward to hearing about the 1/2 Marathon Denise.  I love Lake Placid.  I'm so jealous.  Whiteface Mountain is calling my name.  :)

Thanks for the thread Bayley.  I thought about starting it a few days ago, just to give people time to decide if they wanted to join us, but I like it in the new forum.  We'll see how active the traffic is here.  If it's not busy, at least we have our little team.

Good luck tomorrow.  I hope I can get out there in the morning and do W9D2.

    Later. Have a great night.

    Simon

    Re: From C25k to B210k

Bayley, thanks for the new home!  I hoping we see lots of traffic here.

I can't believe I am saying this, but I AM A HALF MARATHON FINISHER!!!!  Yesterday when we drove up to pick up our race bibs/packet, I was really getting cold feet.  I kept asking Mr. Siber if we'd bitten off more than we could chew. Not that I'm superstitious, but my bib number was 1313!  OH NO!!!  2600 people had signed up for this party, and being in the olympic village meant they weren't slackers.  LOL  We decided to go!

We were off to bed early last night, but severe thunderstorms woke up repeatedly.  Up at 5:00 for an oatmeal breakfast, on the road at 6:00, and were at the race start at 7:15.  What a massive group.   The mass start was so much fun.  All the marathon and have marathon runners started together.  What a hoot!  We knew we wouldn't be running the whole thing so we started near the back so as not to be trampled...LOL  The music started and the gun sounded at 8:00!  There was no looking back now.

The sky was cloudy, but there was no rain.  The temp was about 60 degrees.  We couldn't have asked for better weather.  As we started our slow jog, we were actually passing lots of people.  I was shocked.  We walked uphills and ran downhill and flats.  We estimated that we ran at least 8 of the 13.1 miles!  There were drink/snack stations every mile so we made sure to stay hydrated.  The scenery was amazing, the people were fun, and we just kept putting one foot in front of the other.  Our goal was to finish in 4 hours, but I was secretly hoping for 3 1/2.  Well, we crossed the finish at 2:48:06!!!  I have my medal and an amazing sense of accomplishment!  When I started C25K on April 4th, I struggled with running for 60 seconds, and now (did I mention,) I AM A HALF MARATHON FINISHER!...lol

My legs will definitely appreciate a rest day tomorrow ( and maybe even Tuesday), but I'll be ready for B210K by mid week.  We have signed up for 3 more 5Ks in the next few weeks, and we are very excited!

    Keep trekkin',

    Denise

    Re: From C25k to B210k

Congrats on the 1/2 Marathon Denise.  I hope to be right there with you eventually.  I see you are doing the Massena 5K.  Make sure you think of me as you trot around the town where I grew up.  Do you know the route?  Maybe you will run past my old house........ LOL.   And if you see Alicia again on her Kangoos, tell her I said Hi.  I haven't been back to Massena since 2002.  Holy Cow, has it really been 9 year?  Wow, how time flies.

Today is another rest day for me.  After the 3 days in a row, I decided to take the whole weekend off.  I will do W9D2 and D3 Monday and Tuesday at work, and will be ready for the Bridge by Wednesday or Thursday.

Great job everyone.  Keep up the good work.

    Simon

    Re: From C25k to B210k

Ok, so the weather changed for the better tonight, and conditions for running improved.  The clouds came out and the wind started blowing and I knew the rain was on the way.  But I thought I could get an outdoors run in before the rain started.  I was wrong, but it wasn't too bad.  I got to about 27 minutes when it started to sprinkle.  It actually felt really good.  It kept sprinkling lightly for the rest of my run and for my entire warm down walk.  I actually walked about 8 minutes because I wasn't quite back to the apartment yet.  But as soon as I got under the awning of the building, the bottom dropped out and the thunder started rolling, so at least I got out of it before that started.  W9D2 done, and I finally got to run outside again.  Woohoo!!!!

    Re: From C25k to B210k

Holy Cow, Denise.  That is GREAT!!!  You must be so proud.    I finished W9D1 yesterday and will do day 2 tomorrow, then day 3 on Wednesday.  I think I will rest two days before starting B210K next Saturday.  My toe is behaving but it still gets "angry" from time to time and I'm going to really do the deep water running on the off days.  With all of my foot issues in the past, I'm still going realllllly slow because I reallllllly don't want to get hurt.  I'm still shooting for the July 4th 5K close by but will keep on plugging along.

You guys up the speed, I'll bring up the rear.

Laura, who didn't run today, but did wash and dry 5 dogs....so that's go to be worth something

Whooooohooooo Denise!!!  *Doing my best Backflip****  That is great!!   Wow on the time!!  You must have turned on the Turbo jets!  Keep Trekkin!!!

Sounds like we are a bit of the walking wounded, with me and you Laura with the "angry toe"... LOL.. maybe if we took the parts that worked from both of us, we could share feet.. LOL.. or maybe something like that..

Laura, I've been researching deep water running, and I think I'm going to start next Wednesday... my gym has the belts, and I'm going to give it a go.. Any tips you can give me?  I'm interested in anything that will help me keep moving.  And OMyGoodness,, washing and drying 5 dogs does count for something,, if they are anything like our 2,, you sure got a workout!!  But I betcha your dogs look and smell beautiful!!

    Keep running!!!!

    Re: From C25k to B210k

Thanks everyone!  It really was a blast.  Official times were posted and mine was actually 2:48:06!  I had to edit my post...can't cheat myself out of that minute...LOL

LOL Simon, we knew you couldn't take a whole weekend off!  Glad to hear you beat the raindrops today.  The sky opened in Lake Placid too, but an hour after we crossed the finish line...thank goodness.

Bayley, is the tightness working out of your legs?  I have to stretch a lot when I finish running or I have pain the next day.  Hope you are feeling better.

Laura, glad the toe is feeling better and you will be doing the B210K with us!

Marcy, I'm anxious to hear what you find out from the other doctor.   Glad you are finding ways to cross train in the meantime.

Keep me posted on our official start date.

    Keep trekkin'

It doesn't look like this 10K forum is very active.  The next active thread besides our new one hasn't recieved a comment in 2 weeks.  Maybe we should stick to the Newbie Cafe, just so we get some interaction with others?  What do you think?  Or I can post a link on the Newbie Cafe to this one. Just a thought.

    Re: From C25k to B210k

Ok...W9D2 done....it was only 71, but 98% humidity.  Blech.....like running in a swamp.  I was thinking that as soon as school ends tomorrow I'd be able to sleep in a bit, but not if it's this way at 5:45.  Oh my.....I guess 3 days a week I have to be a morning person.  On another note, my 9 year old daughter has said she wants to run so I think I'm going to start the C25k program over with her on my off days.  She'll but passing me in about 2 weeks, I think.

I think I'll have to buy a hydration belt now that runs are going to last for more than 30 minutes.  I'm pretty good, but I need to give some water to the canines.  Nothing like running with a few water bottles, a collapsible water bowl, two poop bags and a couple of paper towels.  We are truly prepared!

    Laura

Just finished W9D2, so I'll be joining you guys on Friday (although I must admit I'm not crazy about going back to intervals.)  Still trying to decide how I'm going to approach this.  I think after each week I'm going to throw in one 5k run before starting the next week.
