Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Ran a 5K race in the pouring rain last night. My official time was the exact same as it was last week on the same course, 25:08.

It felt like I was running harder this week, but someone pointed out that I was probably carrying a few pounds of water soaked into each shoe!

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

I had a training run the other week, in the humid air and it started to sprinkle  on my return, then poured two miles from home until I got home.

I weighed myself before I left and when I got back---I weighed 4# more with wet clothes and shoes!

*running in sprinkles, I love; running in rain, not so much love.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Early morning 10 miler.  Now with all of this new information about how fast I should be running, I'm really confused.  You can see how confused I am by not being consistant on each mile.  I started slow, trying to follow the endurance pace, but that was too slow for me.  So the next thing I started to do was increase my speed until I felt comfortable.  I felt really good around a 7:20 - 7:25 pace.  I'm going to see if I can hold a consistant pace for my 12 miler next weekend.

    http://connect.garmin.com/activity/91585673

According the chart, I would qualify for the Boston Marathon.  Don't quote me, but I'm thinking about running the Seattle Marathon which is a Boston Qualifier, if I can do it around 8 min/mile I'll qualify.

TOTALLY JEALOUS of your elevation........ non stop 60-120foot hills here in GA.  BRUTAL.  Especially with 100% humidity.... ugh!

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Ran 9 miles today in 70-74 degree weather with 100% humidity.... BRUTAL.  I hate humidity - hate it.

I was running 60ish foot hills at 7:30am to see if I wanted to do a half next weekend which has the same (60foot hills and starts at 7:30am)

Nope.  Not going to do it.  Not because of the hills - because of the freakin start time!!!!

WHO STARTS A HALF MARATHON AT 7:30AM IN GEORGIA WITH NO SHADE????????? WHO I ASK YOU.

Oh well - I have a 10k race July 4th (the Peachtree Road Race) which is more of just a fun race since it has over 60,000 people and it gets kinda crowded.  Not really a race for a PR unless you are a kenyan that starts in the "invited" section.

Then on to marathon training.  Looks like I'll be doing a lot of early morning or late night runs.

I did a 10k this morning - it was 77 degrees when we started and probably 100% humidity too because I live in Houston!    I am doing the Peachtree too - waiting for my number to come in the mail!!! *EXCITED*

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Did a personal best distance of 8.5 miles this morning. Perfect running weather (about 60 and overcast) this morning helped with a nice run. Wore my new Amphipod hydration belt and like it. Now I can get drinks o' water and have my cell phone with me. I was glad it didn't bother me and it wasn't bouncy.

With each long run, I gain confidence that I can do a half-marathon.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

awesome! I ran for about an hour and 10 mins at 1pm today, It wasn't quite as hot as usual due to cloud cover,( high 80;s instead of high 90's) breeze and the roll of thunder in the background, I kept thinking the rain was going to come my way and that I would run until it started, but it never made it to me. I am a little sore but will hit it again for about an hour and half tomorrow,

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

My run was awesome.  I was planning on doing 8 Miles, then during the run I decided to only run 6 miles.  So, on my way back, I made a last second decison to go left (as oppose to the right), which took me away from my home.  I proceeded down that road and eventually ran 11 Miles!  I check out my time at the 10 mile mark and saw that it was 1:44:40, which was a full 10 minutes faster than my previous 10 miler.

So, for alot of reasons, my run was awesome!

Ran 4 miles at a 9:28 pace. It's kind of cold and rainy.

I'm trying to switch to a flatter shoe and use a forefoot or midfoot strike.

4 miles was all my calves could take.

I did 4 miles today. . . not the best, but I have to remind myself that I'm still in recovery from my humid, hot half.

then I went to work weeding. Now my butt hurts ;-)
