    Leadville;

I saw you did the Vegas 1/2 Marathon.  Very Cool..  My brother-n-law and sister-n-law ran it in 2010, too.

I am trying to gear up for the Vegas Full Marathon this year.  While I am running the Providence 1/2, the Vegas race will be my first Full!

    Very excited.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Vegas was FUN.  THe route in 2009 went south around the Vegas sign, 2010 year we started a "block" north of htat and went on Fremont Strip for a bit.  It was rockin' fun!  I actually took my camera with me for the run last year, 'cause I didn't think I'd do it again.    The costumes people run in is amazing and fun.  Some shirts are so inspirational too.  Have fun with it, Guy!

A friend said the last half for hte full was hard, and not because of the distance, but because of all the overpass bridges (up down up down) and also there was little music/entertainment out there. It's all mental, he said, at that point.   I'm gearing up for my first full in St. Louis in October. I'm just hoping to survive :0)

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Seattle is really nice for running flat and fast with its mild temps: Winter 30’s - 40’s; Spring 40’s - 50’s; and Summer 50’s – 60’s most mornings with almost no humidity unless you call a little rain humidity. You can find almost any terrain to run. Flat, hills, heck even mountains and plenty of them.

Regarding the early morning start (7:30 a.m.) That might because they’re trying to start the event before it gets too warm. Maybe like Golfers in Arizona in August “TEE TIME 6 a.m.” Ok maybe not the Seattle Rock and Roll is at 7 a.m. so that’s early.

60,000 people at a race? Is that runners? Or Spectators combined? OMG! I looked up last year’s Seattle Rock & Roll and there were approx. 5000 Marathon Finishers and 17,600 ½ Marathoners. I also looked up and see where I should place if I run with my realistic goal time. I should place in the ½ Marathon somewhere between 222 – 250th overall. 12 – 15th in my age bracket…Undisclosed lol

I’m actually recovering from a month off from a hamstring injury and last Saturday’s run I began to feel it again so I’m very cautious and doing everything I can to prevent injuring it again.

Ice, Stretch, cutting out any type of speed training, no hill training (too much on the hamstring) I’m scared as hell right now…hope it holds out.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Actually when I said 7:30 I was thinking that was LATE for a start!!!! It starts getting hot in georgia EARLY.  6am would possibly be more doable - but to have people finish up at 9:30 when it's like 80+ degrees and 100% humidity????? That's just stupid.

And 60,000 would be the number of RUNNERS.  With spectators and volunteers???? Omg who knows!!!  People are literally lined up for all 6.2miles.  They come early, stake out their spot, bring signs and just cheer people on as they run by.  Some hand out food, some hand out beer, some hand out free tshirts, some just cheer people on.  It's insane and it's AWESOME!!!!

And while I'm here may as well post about my last run.....

it was a 'surprise' run.  I wasn't planning on running today but a friend texted and asked if I wanted to go run.  I told her my daughter JUST went down for a nap... then texted right back and asked where... then texted again and said "should I wake her up?" - she called, laughed and said YES GET HER UP COME RUN.

So I did   She is just getting back into running after some surgery so we did a sloooow run - but it was nice just to be able to catch up and burn off my McDonalds Sunday I had earlier

A bunch of girls are running our Virtual 5k together tomorrow at 9pm.  Hope my knuckle lights get here tomorrow so I can test them out!!!!!

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Ran the course for my 5K that's in a couple of weeks and felt great, especially knowing that I have two more weeks of training before it.  Ran it in 30:26...my goal for the race is to run it in 30 or under and now I feel like that's completely doable.  I'd also been thinking about adding another goal of running the entire thing (so far I still have to stop for a few walk breaks here and there), but I only walked a total of 3 minutes this weekend (2 min after I reached the 2 mile mark, and then another minute a little further on).  I'd originally thought that goal was going to be unattainable and wasn't going to be too upset if it didn't happen, but now I feel like it's also a completely realistic goal!  Now I've got a friend who has been noticing my training posts on Facebook, and is challenging me to step up my training and run a Half Marathon with him in October   I'm not sure I'll be ready for a half by then, but it's definitely something I'm willing to work towards and do my best to be ready for.  Not like it will hurt anything...I figure if I'm not ready, I just won't run it!

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

I have beem MIA from my computer, but not from running>>>>it has been WAY to nice to touch this thing once my work day is over thens its too the pool and softball games and dog parks etc until dark then late night runs to avoid the heat and humidity (no early AM runs since DH leaves at 430 for work, and i like my sleep)  but today there was very little humidity and it was only 74 so I decided to visit my trail that I so love and have been missing for a nice relaxing 5.2mi run with a 9:23m/m pace.

Had a nice "tempo" run this morning. Ran 5k almost as fast as I did for the race last week, which is nice. I was putting in a good effort, but didn't feel like I was running that hard.

Hopefully, that means that this Saturday's Open Door Julie Run 5k will go as well as I hope. I have set three goals for the race, a each with decreasing times. I think I can drop quite a bit of time off of my OPC race.

Will try to run early Wednesday or Thursday, then it's on!

Run4 Coffee,  I like your “peace” signature line.

Pamburrus—what length is that Georgia race?  I’ve seen it in magazines, etc, and have thought that it was a crazy amount of  people, but that has to be just fun too.  I though Vegas was crazy with 25,000 people to start, 1,000 in each wave, and it takes about 40 minutes for everyone to start the race!

Katie A, a ½ is totally do-able, IF that’s what you want to do!  Where’s the Tomato Festival? That sounds fun. I've been noticing it on your signature space, but haven't asked before.

Nikkicarr, that is an awesome view. I don’t do trail runs, but dang, that’d be a good walk for me!

@ Pam and RedRunner, I'm doing the PRR too. I opted to pick my number up. This is my 5th year doing it but the first time I submitted a time, so I'm eager to see what start group I'm in. Big Peach Running Company is hosting a run on the course this Saturday. I'm going to do it. They'll have water stations along the course and snacks at the end. Should be fun.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

It's a 10k - and unless you are at the front it's a hard course to get a PR on because there are SO many people and no one follows the slow runners to the right thing.  Drives me up a wall - but it's definitely fun!!!

NRD and Redrunner - we will have to post our groups!!  I was hoping for D or E - but they mailed out D today so I don't think I got it

I did one of the LAST qualifying races before registration and I hadn't been running at ALL but it was still better than my PRR last year (I had to stop and pee AND hadn't trained or been running at all then either)

My half from this year should qualify me for group B next year so I'm looking forward to that!!!

Anyway - just a waiting game now - but I'm REALLY hoping it is group E

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

It was definitely a humid run last night!  I looked and felt like I'd jumped in a pool by the time I got home...definitely think that was the most I've sweat during a run yet.  Ran 4 miles and realized that I do NOT like running on my street in my Newton's!  My street is very uneven so sometimes I feel more like I'm trail running trying to purposely pick out where I'm going to land next and my Newton's are definitely not the most stable of shoes.  I LOVE them when I get to run on the bicycle/running trail in my area which is pretty good pavement, but running on my street in them last night definitely has my ankle sore this morning.  I didn't twist it, but I think it's just sore from being overworked trying to remain stable.

@Leadville - The Tomato Festival is in Crystal Springs, MS.  I've heard the race is a lot of fun (not really sure what makes a race fun? crowd support maybe?).  That will be my first 5K and I officially sent in my registration yesterday.  Nervous and excited!  I started doing B210K yesterday so I'll work my way through that and then see from there where I'm going to go with my training and if I'll be able to run the Half my friend is wanting me to run!

@Nikki - Gorgeous pictures!  I WISH I had a place like that to run.  I generally run on the street or a paved trail, but I do miss my actual trail running (haven't done any since junior high!)
