Thanks Ogr44. I've started looking for another race to sign up for. I also got up off of my butt and ran this morning. I think part of what is next for me is to transition from the treadmill to running outside. I ran outside this morning. Outside is a whole different ball of wax!

The running skirts are SO cute, definitely something to keep in mind as I lose weight.  Right now I am sticking to yoga capri pants.  Nobody wants to see the skirt in action.. trust me!!!!!

Today was a 'rest' day - I intended to walk or do something but I didn't.  Tomorrow is a short day at the office so I am going to start 'practicing' for week 2! LOL

    Re: 200+ Pound Club!

Today I did W8D2 attempt 3 and made it--actually running for 32 min+, whick was 2.25 miles!!  I put  off my run until evening--I was just too tired when I got home from work this morning.  The 4-hour sleep days finally caught up with me.  Slept all day and into the eveing, with only one wake-up call during the day.  Man, did it feel good!!  Got up and went out for a 2.5 mile run--the 28 min run part of it was the easiest yet, and my pace was abt 30 sec/mile faster than my usual training pace.  I am planning a short run tomorrow--only an easy 1.5 miles.  (Hmm--never would have thought 6 weeks ago that I would call a 1.5 mile run "easy"  ), then my next 5K on Saturday.  It should be a relatively flat course.  The last time I did this particular race was 28 years ago...  I am hoping to break 42 min on this one, but anything less than 45 will make me happy!!

When I finish the C25K program, I want to re-do weeks 7-9 for distance.  I made the decision today that I will be soing a half-marathon in October. It will be the first running of the Empire State Marathon and Half-Marathon in Syracuse, NY.  It's close to home, I know the roads, and it is a nice, flat course.  There's something to participate in the first running, too.  So...I will be looking to all you guys for your support when I get whiny, sore, and wonder if I can do it.

I know what you mean about the skort - but check out this site - it has a nice long short under a longer skirt - I am going to def try it - seems to come in some sizes that might expand nicely around my fluffy parts....I got this site from a fellow runner on this active.com site.....

I'm nearing the 50 mile mark and I am getting pretty excited about it.  Looking forward to getting there and beyond.  I just wanted to say thanks so much for the inspiration that all of you have given me thus far in my journey!  I'm planning on getting myself a little gift to celebrate perhaps a couple of new workout items.  Congrats everyone on their achievements I know I'm really excited to get to 50 miles.

Ran three days this week, which I haven't done in forever.  Was just shy of 3 miles with the warm up.  Used 5d2 for intervals again and managed to push through another 2 or 3 minutes at the end of the second 8 minute run.  I think I'll be able to pull off three reps on Sunday, which would be nice to accomplish.  If I can get through that, I'll try my 15/5/15 Tuesday and Thursday and then add another 5/15 on Saturday.  Based on my Nike+ pace from runs segments today, that would have be at just over 5 miles.

Ok- first Skirts- Im not exactly the "skirt type". I would rather run in jeans than a skirt, HOWEVER, I see their merits and they can provide a nice breeze....

I dont care for them as a clothing article because I, as I have said, don't have the factory air and I prefer seperation between church and state (my colorful reference to parts of my anatomy that I care not to detail). As a "Skort" (which seems like it should be an adjetive for the sound made my some device used for suction- "My vacuum makes this skort sound") comes with built in drawers, the frilly seems decorative and I prefer not to draw more attention to my looming backside.  But thats just me.

I am taking the day to relax in preparation for the mud bash tomorrow where I see it as an excuse to play with dirt and drink beer in public. Finally I need not blame my behavior on my child.

    Re: 200+ Pound Club!

I am trying not to beat myself up -- there is something about Friday morning where I just cannot motivate. All week I get up early and work out, whether it's running 3 miles or doing yoga. Once/week I even drive 90 minutes to go to my advanced yoga studio. But Friday I tend to oversleep. It doesn't help that one of my dogs decided she would keep us up all night and I have some random bug bites all over my backside and took 2 benedryl which knocks me out. (After the dog finally calmed down, I fell fast asleep at 4am)

So, I missed today's run. That, of course, doesn't mean I can't run tomorrow or even tonight. I'm not going to get all out of shape because I missed one 3 mile run today.

Anyway, just posting my frustration with myself. It isn't too hot out today, so running this evening isn't out of the question.

Hey everybody!  Hope everyone has a great Friday and a great weekend!!!  Work is a little bit stressful today so cannot wait for it to be over!  I am thinking about doing a 15 or so mile bike ride tonight after work but my body is kinda tired.  This is the point where I question.. do I give my body a rest or man up and go ride?   I would rather bike than run i suppose, that would give my shins a break till tomorrow when I hit the pavement to practice on the triathlon course and the pool in the morning.  Ahh the life of a triathlete in training!!!  It's exhausting and wonderful!

    Re: 200+ Pound Club!

Good afternoon to all, and I hope you guys are enjoying your friday! I have a dilemma and I am feelin very discouraged. I began the C25K program in March, I completed it in May, and I have continued training to get my guts up to race. Overall I feel healthier, happier, and have noticed a few changes in my physique, but my serious issue is...NO WEIGHT LOSS!! I have cut back on my eating dramatically and still no success. I do eat candy and sweets quite a bit (about 3-4 days per week), but in moderation. Does anyone think I should knuckle down on my diet and only eat what is good for me? like lean meats, vegetables, and water only? I really love sweets, but if they are hindering my weight loss, I have no problem cutting them out cold turkey.I also am not a fast food eater or soda drinker, I gave those up about a year ago (well, every now and then). I also picked up strength training a couple of weeks ago and lost about five pounds, but I weighed myself to day and they were back!! It is very upsetting and I was planning on entering a 5K tomorrow morning, but I am starting to think running is not what works to lose weight for me. I do it for fun, but what else can I do to speed up this weight loss progress. PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!! SOMEBODY!!!! I REALLY NEED A SERIOUS PICK ME UP!! I'll be posting this is each community I have entered so I apologize in advance for the repeats. THANKS!!!

    Re: 200+ Pound Club!

I would strongly suggest you consider joining Weight Watchers.  I've been doing it for a while and it definitely works (or will, as long as you follow the program and have no hidden medical issues that could cause you to not lose weight.)  The biggest thing for me was learning just what a correct portion of food should be (hint: for pasta a serving is ONE cup. that's IT. Measure that out sometime.  Most of us eat 4x that at one meal...)  I also learned how not to over do things. coping strategies to deal with real world things like vacations and etc, and about making better choices.
