LL INC., FEB. 1ST RESIDENCY PROOF CUT-OFF DATE??

As written on page 1, under "B" of the 2011 "Tournament Eligibility Affidavit"---and on page 16 of the current rulebook.

Quote:   "All age and residency eligibility documentation DATED PRIOR TO FEBRUARY 1 WILL BE REQUIRED.........."

IOW----any residency document dated after FEB. 1, 2011 is not acceptable

.

What I am asking:  Who out there understands what prompted LL Inc., to issue that new edict??

My people have been taken aback by not being able to use residency documents dated after Feb. 1st as they have in the past.

Truth be told, they are asking me why the (new) date cut-off restriction---and I don't have an answer for them.

Frank!

    Frank:

    It's simple!

W-Port is trying to slip another one past the "Birthers!"

The "rumor" I heard was that using residency proof prior to February 1 proves residence at the start of the season.

So, if Jimmy didn't have residence at the start of the season but then the family moved within the league boundaries then an electic bill from May or June would show residency, but Jimmy should not have been allowed to play in the league because he didn't meet residency at registration so he should have needed a Waiver.

I'm not saying that's the case, I'm just saying that's what I was told.

So, the Eastern Region doesn't know either !!!

Not that I'm singling out the Eastern Region, I doubt you'd get much of an answer from any of the other Regions either.

This seems like a "Williamsport driven" change.

Andy probably might not have been able to help on this one.

Andy was more for the "playing rules" not the admin stuff.

That said, if you asked him a admin question he'd generally find the answer for you.

    Heck of a guy.

Re: LL INC., FEB. 1ST RESIDENCY PROOF CUT-OFF DATE??

I understand and agree that the new date could be a problem under scenario #1.  I wouldn't turn away a military kid because his parent had to change bases after 2/1.

I don't understand why Scenario 2 is a problem in regards to All-Stars.  When my kid is announced on 6/15, I go to my computer and print off copies of my January 2011 gas, cable and property tax bills to take to the parent meeting.  We all knew what the new requirement was way in advance, so why would I have even printed documents that were dated after 2/1?

Well, I'd do what he says!

That is, if anyone complains about the Feb 1 date or wants to know why it's now a new rule, I'd give them Pat's Number and tell them to call him.

That's what he said you should do, so take him up on his offer !!!

In fact, I guess that's what everyone who is not happy with the Feb 1st cut-off date should do, call Pat Wilson in Williamsport.
