I think it's hard to find any threads in this forum with the Heavenly Christian people and all those others posting a new thread every day. Why can't they just have one thread? There's a date at the topic of your entry, everyone knows what day it is. Just a suggestion...

Re: Shouldn't running checkins/ reports be in the race/run report forum not here?
A few years ago here at Cool Running, "Christian" themed threads--where the idea was for Christian runners to share mutual encouragement and spiritual insights--were started in The Neighborhood Forum, at the rate of basically one thread per month.

The rationale behind this was that runners self-indentifying as "Christian" would then have a place to post things of particular interest to them specifically, just as do runners from certain geographic locales like Boston or Ontario.

I have suggested to Kristab3600 that we proceed that way in the future.

Regarding all the copycat threads--noodly appendage touched, humorless, hedonistic, agnostic, Jewish, Muslim, Taoist, etc.--all I can say is, as the old expression goes: "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."

Yeah, I agree it's annoying when there is a preponderance of parodies filling up the thread index in a forum. But if that simply means that, following the Christians' example, runners with similar outlooks on life are finding it attractive to confabulate together, then so be it. Let them come over to the Neighborhood too.

(Anyway, the whole process tends to dwindle of its own accord eventually. Back years ago when some of us Christians were starting our monthly "Christian Runners" threads in The Neighborhood, the number of posts began to drop and those of us who felt prompted to share our theological perspective found other venues for doing so--especially, at The Clubhouse.)

I agree as well...

It's sad to see a friendly forum turned into a righteous power struggle between people with a similar interest ... this board, as far as I can see, is meant to discuss what we each have in common (running) and these threads only feel exclusive and self-important when I log on and see them ... I think a person's actions show the world who they are and what they believe in and when others need to address a title to what they do or say it loses credibility in my eyes ... jmho

I love having these boards to meet people and read about running and how it effects others lives ... I don't care what their stated religion is, I can see from how they interact with others whether they have a good and decent demeanor and are somebody I'd want to seek them and their threads out in the future ...

... btw - I feel the same way about racing groups making new posts every day on some of the boards ... a single check in point should suffice ... at least for a while ... some message board programs get bogged down when the numbers of posts on a single thread get to be above a certain number so it might be unrealistic to keep a single thread indefinitely but keeping it for a week or a month shouldn't be a big deal and other topics could be current without having so many individual groups taking up the page with daily exclusive-to-their-group threads ...
