Re: Why do you run?
Why do I run ??

I started running because I was having anxiety attacks because of family problems......and it is a better alternative than prescription pills !!

I also run, because I can keep my weight under control !!

I run because running is so personal, no one can do it for you and no one can take it away from you !!

I run because it is an inexpensive sport, I can open my door and run on my land......or drive to the trail..

It gives me a sense of accomplishment !!

Re: Why do you run?
I run because one of the first things God gave me was my body and I love Him so much that I wnat to take care of it. I have not always realized this but since coming ot this conclusion, He has helped me quit smoking a year and a half ago (after smoking for 13 years) and now I can run up to 4 miles. Not much but I am new and enjoying my second chance at life and with my lungs. So I praise God and glorify Him through my running and how I take care of myself. He's a great motivator!

Re: Why do you run?
I run because it's one of my only times of the day just for me. I can forget about work, I can't forget about anything stressful and just daydream or think about whatever makes me happy. Running is my stress relief.

Re: Why do you run?
Below is a picture of my son, #384, after he participated in a 2.5 mile "walk" (He's not usually so serious!) for a cancer fund-raiser. I am to the left and I had finished the event's 5K. I'm sure he would run if he could, but he has muscular dystrophy. How can I not run given the circumstances? Life is about perspective and that's mine.

Re: Why do you run?
Wow. Worthy reasons all.

I started running because it helped me get through the breakup of my marriage and family.

I keep running because it sets me apart, it makes me feel good. It has brought me friends and given me memories that I'll cherish to the end.

And then, of course, you never know when you'll be in this situation: Why We Run[/URL" target="_blank">

Re: Why do you run?
I started running at age 24 to loose weight. I did well for about a year and went from 275 to 200. From age 26 to 39 I would go on and off diet and exercise programs and gain and lose weight over and over again until I weighed 391 pounds. I felt miserable physically and depressed over my lack of self control. November 2003 I had gastric bypass surgery. I started walking immediatly. March 2004 I weighed 300 pounds and started a walking jogging program. Oct. 2004 I ran my first 15k and weighed 180. November 2005 I ran my first marathon. I love running and feel like it and gastric bypass surgery has given me a new life. It gives me a sense of control and discipline that I have never had. I've run 2 marathons and plan to someday complete one in each state.
