So the last few mornings I have ararnged my patient visits to allow for a morning run vs afternoon like I normally do and I feel great, may have to try to keep this pattern up for the rest of the summer except for days when I have labs to do then it will have to be later (unless I can get phlebotomy on my schedule???) andy way it has been overcast in the morning low 70s so my runs have been good keeping under a 10min mile and trying new routes (ie more hills) due to the fact that road work is going on everywhere and the bridge to "my" trail is closed so Garmin and I are being a little more adventurous.

Hey everyone! I'm new to this chat, but loved the concept and hoping it will inspire me. I started running over a year ago and loved it, I ran 2 marathons, 4 half marathons, a few 10k and 5ks during that time. My times kept getting faster and faster and I ended up losing about 35 lbs during that time! But my life has gotten crazy over the past few months and I've notice myself slowly losing the desire and motivation to get out there on my training runs. I have only gotten out once in the past 2 weeks! So yesterday I stepped out and ran 5 miles at about a 9min pace, it wasn't that fast for me, but it felt amazing! I wanted to share and hopefully get some motivation from the rest of you who are out there on almost a daily basis!

I busted my feet for weeks working up to 11 miles @ 6:54 pace on the 'mill and up to 6.5 miles @ 7:30 pace with generous incline, and then only did a 7:33 pace on last Sunday's half ... frustrated me so badly, I did 3 miles @ 6:33 pace today. In my defense, the half course did have a real 6 mile climb, lol. Well, at least the next RnR half for October in San Jose, CA is absolutely dead flat!
Just Do It!
JasonCR, Tip #1: When a cute girl with a swinging ponytail passes you. Just use her as you pace setter. Keeping up with her is much more fun than a guy. Girls do the opposite by following a slightly faster paced guy. Whatever motivates you do it. Following those swinging ponytails works for me. Lol. Regardless nice time in the half!
Only did 3 yesterday to give my legs and blister a little bit of a break. I've noticed now that I'm doing about 5 miles every day my legs are definitely feeling it more and getting more tired. Guess now that I'm starting to do longer runs (and hopefully my mileage will continue to increase), I'm going to have to start running every other day and doing cross-training on the other days. Definitely don't want to get an injury or burn out, but I wouldn't have thought that 5 miles 5-6 times a week was too much?

My last run was this morning, I'm about 8 weeks new to running, started every other day, 3 days per week. Just started 4 days, actually it's just every other day now so 4 days & 3 days per week alternating. That's new. Today I did a test run to see where I'm at with HR & time. I tend to run too fast outside and needed to slow down a bit, I decided to double my intervals for the day and was happy with the results, lower HR and felt pretty good throughout, for a 5k + distance. I have the stamina to run further at a time, still run walking at this point, and I've feel comfortable up to an hour or so. I feel like my knees though, or all the stuff around them, that's going to take a few months to catch up. It's kind of tough because if I'm not running faster, I feel held back, I just don't want to screw it all up before my legs are actually strong enough to do the whole running distance and speed that know I can do.

Ran 6.93 miles this morning. I've ran around 7 miles before but this was my first official LSD. I even brought food with me! Ran through a new neighborhood nearby that I never visited before. Really enjoyed the scenery. Also listened to the Marathon Training Academy podcast along the way. Had a great time!

I've done treadmill running all week because it's been ridiculously hot and humid in GA with heat indexes between 105-108 for the past several days. I haven't been able to get out in the early mornings so I stuck to the indoors. I've logged about 13 miles this week and will hit the pavement tomorrow for a 4.5 mile run.

Saturday's morning run felt really good. I went a bit over 9 miles in less than 2 hours, which is a solid pace for me. Better yet it was over a moderately hilly course instead of the table smooth course I did my last 9-miler. I am really beginning to feel good.
