Awkward Question, my nipples hurt after every run? Why is that?

This is an awkward question, i am a 34yr old male and every time i run my nipples kill me, i started putting band aids to cover them to stop the pain. Can anyone explain why this is happening. I have increased my running lately and i fgured that was the cause. The pain is unbearable! thanks
I sometimes have this issue as well, but my problem has more to do the trauma of bouncing (even with a good sports bar)
Are you wearing something that chafes? You mentioned the band-aids. Would it be possible to wear a tighter undershirt or shirt to protect yourself? Another option might be body glide (comes in a deodorant-like container) that you could apply before running--it's meant to prevent chafing.
thanks for the help, where can i buy body glide? I was thinking of going to the doctor but i figured i would ask as many questions and google what i could first!
Glide is available at most sporting goods and running stores--I saw it yesterday at the Sports Authority and I've seen it at REI. Good luck.
I am a 33 year-old male and I have the same problem whenever I run over 5 miles. I use Transpore Medical Tape by 3M. You can get it at any drugstore. The tape does not hurt when you take it off like Band-Aids sometimes do and it is a cheap fix. There are also NipGuards but I have never tried those.
Thanks, im going to try both options and see what works the best. I have been running 4 miles every other day for about 2 months and it has been hurting ever since. Thanks
You might also try a different shirt. Some people swear by Under Armor.
I have an Under Armor shirt, and it never irritates me. But I got a different brand shirt a few months ago and went on a longish run with it, and suffered from irritation/bleeding.
Bleeding? yikes! I did wear a cotton shirt today, probably not the best choice. I will also have to invest in some more running gear. I have a few nike pro shirts that i wear for my 5k's, i have to start wearing them for my training!
I prefer an Under Armour compression shirt as opposed to band aids or body glide. Just my preferance and the shirt helps wick away the sweat. I had the same prob and it hurts for sure. Good luck!!

put liquid bandage on your nipples. It forms a protective shell that will protect you from the chafing/bleeding. Much better than band-aids because it won't come off with sweat.
I ended up buying body glide from a local running store, that stuff works like a charm! I havent had any issues since, i reccommend it!
Body Glide works great, also for other chafing on long runs on hot days.
