I agree - If you completed W1D3 then you should go on. I define completed that you were able to complete all of the running intervals in reasonable comfort (NOT EASY! REASONABLE)

If you were not able to complete all of the running intervals then you might want to repeat W1D3 until you can.

    Good luck!

W7:D1 down!  I am amazed how quick the recovery is at this point.  Usually after running 2.5 miles I'd be able to milk it for a couple of days w/ my wife sayn' I was sore, but it doesnt seem to be working anymore... .  Singed up for a 5k race on 8/13 which should put me right at the end of week 9.  Still hanging aroung the 10:30/11:00 minute mile mark.  I'd be happy with that for the 5k but would love to really get it down to a 10min mile or less.  It would be so cool to run a 5k in under 30 mins and I feel like I'm really close to being able to do that but want to make sure I work towards the distance 1st, time 2nd.

    Military Challenge Complete!

finished in 1:05 - had a few obstacles where you had to wait for people to climb over ,crawl through, etc. but what a blast.

Now I'm just focusing on getting my distance built up for the half-marathon next month (September 4).

I'm hoping to finish in 3.5 hours, running more than I walk.

I've been increasing my distance each week - I'm up to 14 miles for the week, with tomorrow being my "long run" of 5 miles (3.5 miles done today, so I'll finish the distance tomorrow)

Still considering repeating some days of the week 5 run during the week with the long run on the weekend just to get my pace back on target.  Last week I did 4.5 miles in an hour, so I'm thinking I'll shoot for 5 miles in 1.5 hours (legs feel sore right now).

Signed up for a 10K as well in October.

July done - been running for 2.5 months now - can't believe how much I can do.  What will my posts say in another 2.5 months

So happy to have finished W6D3!!!

Legs started to fatigue after 15 min of running.

Pushed through it to make it through the last 10 min

with NO STOPS !  Yeah!  Next 3 runs are the same so I am hoping

to up the pace a bit but still remain somewhat comfortable.  I am

thrilled that my breathing kicks into a steady even cadence now.

When I focus on my breathing I tend to forget the tiredness of my

legs. Also, I am noticing that my "runners high" isn't as annoying as it

    used to be!

    Keep On Runnin'

Re: Starting Couch to 5K week of June 20th!

I did it -- I made it through 25 minutes and finished W6!

The first ten minutes went quickly and uneventfully -- it felt as if they were gone before I even noticed.  The next ten minutes I increased my pace slightly but I didn't have much issue although it was more of an effort. The last five minutes were the toughest.  But by that point, there was no way I wasn't going to finish!

I can't believe I'm done with the walking intervals -- at least until I move onto the next program.

Three more runs of 25 minutes.  I hope the next one is a bit easier.

    Happy running everyone.

    Hey Lisa ~

My physical therapist gave me a rather large list of running shoes to choose from.  I'd be happy to scan it and email it to you.

    Just let me know!

Re: Starting Couch to 5K week of June 20th!

I start the final week tomorrow morning, should of ran today but the weather had other plans for my house and yard... so tomorrow starts the final week!

AND today, total spur of the moment, not really sure why I did it, BUT I signed up for a 5k, to run this saturday!  I have yet to run further than 2.75 mi, so hopefully, that extra .35 mi won't kill me

Question for those of you that enter in these runs, how do you warm up?  I want to run the whole 5k from the start, not walk 5 min from the start line then run the rest of the way...

Re: Starting Couch to 5K week of June 20th!

Finished up Week 7 yesterday.  Pushed myself a little bit and was able to run the 1st 1.25 mile in 9:42.  The 2nd was a bit slower at 10:22, but overall an average of 10:02 on the 2.5 mile run & I'm pretty happy!  Resting today and starting the 2.75 mile runs tomorrow.  Don't plan on hitting that 10 min mile mark on the 1st run, but trying to hit it by W8:D3.

Re: Starting Couch to 5K week of June 20th!

Tonight was W7D1 for me.  There was good news and there was bad news.

The good news is that I finished and this 2nd 25 minute run was actually a little easier than the 1st one at the end of W6.  I also did this 2nd run with only one day's rest.

The bad news is that I had to slow down by a whole minute per mile (to a 13:00m mile) for half of the run.  For whatever reason, I guess that was what my body could handle tonight.

Some days there are great runs, some days there are good runs, some days there are disappointing runs. I figure my body is working on improving my aerobic capacity and as long as I ran a challenging pace tonight, I'm where I need to be.

    Happy running everyone!

Re: Starting Couch to 5K week of June 20th!

I started on June 19th.  I have never ran before then and truly was a couch potato.  I have enjoyed reading all the posts up to now.  I completed Week 7 Day 1 this morning.  I thought this 25 minutes was harder than Week 6 Day 3.  I ran 2 miles on both runs, so at least I'm consistent.  I think the first mile feels good, but the second mile is so hard.  The heat here in Texas isn't helping any either.  We are having 110 days and it was still 88 this morning at 5:45 AM!  Really ready to run in cooler weather.

Re: Starting Couch to 5K week of June 20th!

    Just completed W7D1

I agree with Running Queen, it seemed more challenging

than the 1st 25min straight run of W6D3!

This time my calves and ankles started to hurt a bit at the

15 min mark.  I slowed my pace a bit and it helped my calves

but I barely made 2miles by the end of the run!

A rather disappointing run today, but it was completed.
