Hey everyone. I have a question.
I haven't touched a basketball until I was 11 and haven't started actually practicing and training basketball until I was 12. I made my 7th grade team last year but I was one of the worst people on the team. I'm going to be 14 soon and it seems that almost everyone who I play with is wayyy better than me. I mean I'm pretty good compared to everyone else and I'm in the top 5% at my middle school but it still seems like everyone else is better. So I'm wondering if it was too late to start playing at 12 or not.
P.S. I practice at least for an hour a day but usually I practice about 2-4 hours a day. (And Yes I get enough rest)
P.S.S I can feel myself getting better (My shots better, handles are better).
Hope you can answer!
It's never too late to start playing basketball. I started playing when i was 2 and im 12 now. I practice 3 hours a day. You never think that it was too late because if you work hard enough you'll get to where you want to be.
its never too late! I had played on rec team and biddy teams when i was younger, but i didnt start training and putting in the extra time until i was 12 too and this year i was second leading scorer and leading rebounder as a 7th grader and i made my first AAU team. Just keep working and put in extra time to catch up to kids that have been playing for longer
Absolutely not! There are a ton of players that started later in life...Hakeem Olajuwon didn't start until he was like 15. Michael Jordan didn't make varsity as a sophomore. These two guys turned out to be Hall of Famers so I think it is safe to say it is not too late.
It's never too late to start. But if you have a desire for basketball, like playing in college or if your fortunate enough, the NBA, then you have to work hard obviously. Do well in school. And perform in games, and obviously WIN. Hard work gets you far.
